In fact, the Quran does mention that some human beings are worse than animals.

This has to be one of the most bizarre ramblings I've come across here.

IbnAbdullah: I never heard a lion defeat an army or conquered Khaiber.. in fact lions were not used in wars though horses and camels even elephants were used, but lions..no they were never used. Then I don't understand how a lion can be better than or superior to we humans? Lion has a tail, we don't, we are omnivores, lions are not, we brush our teeth or miswak, lions can't..hey we are better than lions, we can even hunt them using AK47 or the torpedoes? I'm not sure, never tried.
Anyways, please tell me how Imam Ali can be a lion of Allah while he's a human being, and humans are better than lions, Imam Ali is supposed to be a Human Slave of Allah, agree?
Does Quran praise any lion in the world?

What the hell?

For once I agree with sixpak [no I'm sure hell didn't freeze over yet]. I don't know why anyone entertained this dudes ridiculous post by seriously responding to it.

That I was joking about him being species-ist, but not the second bit.
I dunno if we're superior to animals. Different perhaps.

we're superior to animals because

a) we have 'aql and choice in worship.
b) we are capable of controlling our base needs for higher purpose (or more capable; animals can do this at times as well, subhanallah)

some humans are inferior or equivalent to animals because they allow their nafs (=~ animal self) to control them.

nevertheless, the original post is amazingly stupid. "Lion of Allah" is obviously a figurative term that is meant to highlight the courage & ferocity (in battle) of Ali (RA). The Prophet (SAW)'s uncle Hamzah (RA) also earned this title, and afaik it was also used to refer to mujahideen in general, ie "lions of Allah."

some people take things a bit too literally.. in fact, some people make a madhab out of taking things a bit too literally.

Okay you two, pack it in.

I think the original poster should substantiate his argument with some sort of information as to why he feels that the Asadullah title is a problem.

Otherwise, there is no point to this thread

Close the thread! There's no purpose except to insult Imam Ali.

Quite disgusting.
