As far as I know this is a shia dua, but it's simple and beautiful:

La ilaha ilallah, astaghfirullah. Allahuma inni asalok al-jannah, wa auzobeka min an-naar.

There is no god but God, and may He forgive. Oh God, we ask of You Paradise, and we seek refuge in You from the Fire.

(That is my rough translation, Arabic speakers feel free to correct any inaccuracies. )

so beautiful it made me weep to know that my sons would never see it."

Well brother, I don't think there is any "Shianess" in that dua. It's a good dua, everyone should recite it.

afterall, I am pretty sure we can use some du3as from eachother. and reciting a particular du3a may increase the probablity of our dua3as being accepted, however i think we also a need to show little more humility in retreving and reciting these duas. at the end of the day, we all want the same thing than why fight through the way. for doors of Jannah are enormous and open for all of us until our last breath. iA. for Allah knows best.

Imam Ghazali (450-505 A.H, 1058-1111 C.E) Rahmatullahi 'alaih reports in Ihya 'Ulum id-Deen (Revival of Religious Knowledge, Vol I, Book 2, Chapter 2) that Shaykh Abi'l Hasan al-Shafi'i saw the Holy Prophet Sallallahu 'alaihi wa Sallam in a dream and asked him how Imam Shafi'i had been rewarded on his behalf to which he replied that Imam Shafi'i would enter paradise for the sake of the salawaat he wrote in his book, ar-Risalah (The Message).
The salawaat is:

Sallallahu 'alaa Muhammad-in
Kullamaa zakara hu'z-zaakiroon
Wa ghafala 'an zikri hi'l ghaafiloon

Blessings of Allah be on Sayyidina Muhammad
whenever he is remembered by those who remember
and whenever he is not remembered by the negligent.

Wassalaam

P.s. sorry for bringing the crazy arguments onto this thread as well the_only_one. My Bad. I'll delete what i can

Dua-E-Ukasha

In the Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful

O Allah! O The Immense Bestower and Giver
O The One Who is forever in contact (with His creation)
O The Doer of all that is good

O Allah! If I fall into doubt in my faith in You
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam
(There is none to be worshipped but Allah
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah)

O Allah! If I begin to deny my Islam (total submission to You)
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! If I enter into doubt in my belief in One God, You Only
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! If I fall into pride, arrogance, showing-off,
and in gaining a reputation in whatever I do for You
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! If I begin to lie, and backbiting comes to my tongue
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! If evil thoughts about You enter my heart
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! If I begin to compare Your Knowledge with anyone else's
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! If I am not satisfied with what You destined for me to be in my power
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! You favoured with so much but if I disobeyed
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! You favoured me with so much of Your bounties
but if I did not even thank You for it
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! Whatever You gave me of Your bounties
and if I did not fulfil their rights
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! Whatever beautiful favours You bestowed on me
and if I did not even praise You for it
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! Whatever I wasted of my life-time that was not pleasing to You
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! Whatever You made compulsory on me
to think and perceive about You, if I closed my eyes to it
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! Whenever I have fallen short in my hope and expectation in You
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! Whenever I have considered someone other than You
to be of help in my hardship
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! If I have sought help when in difficulties
from someone other than You
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! If my feet have slipped from a path other than Yours
and I unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O Allah! Whenever You corrected my mistakes with Your Grace
and I thought it was someone else doing it
and I am unaware of it, I beg forgiveness for it and I say
Laa Ilaha Ill'Allah Muhammad-u'r-Rasulullah
Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam

O The Ever Living! The Eternal!

There is none to be worshipped but You
Sanctity be to You; surely, I acted improperly

Then We responded to his prayer
and delivered him from the grief
and thus We save the believers

And Zakaria, when he called his Lord:
O my Lord! Leave me not childless,
and You are the Best Inheritor. (21:87-89)

And may the blessings of Allah, The Exalted,
be on His best creation, Muhammad,
and on his family, and his companions, and his wives, all of them.
With Your Mercy, O The Most Merciful

Oh my God! Your Runaway slave has returned to Your door! Your disobedient servant has returned in reconciliation. Your sinning slave has come seeking Your Pardon, so pardon me, by virtue of Your munificence, and accept me through Your grace, and give me Your gaze (or look to me) through Your mercy.

Oh Allah, forgive me for what has proceeded of my sins, and protect me (from sinning) and other than that in what remains of my apportioned term of my lifespan, for indeed ALL good is in Your Hand, and You are Merciful and Extremely Compassionate to us.

Oh you who manifests the great affairs! And You Who are the furthest extent of the aspiration of those who are worried! Oh You Who if You will something, all You do is say Be! and it is! Our sins have surrounded us! And You are the One Who we have stored up for them (like storing up for a time of hardship). Oh You Who were saved as a Treasure for every difficulty, I was saving You for this moment, so forgive me! Indeed You are the One who constantly accepts the repentance of His servants (gives tawfiq to repent again and again).

Oh You Who is not busy by hearing anything from hearing anything else! And You Who many requests do not cause Him to fall into error! And You Who is not annoyed by the constant asking of those who constantly beseech You! Make me taste the coolness of Your pardon and the sweetness of Your forgiveness, by Your Mercy, Oh Most Merciful of those who show mercy! Indeed, You are able to do all things, Omnipotent.

Allahumma salli ala muhammed wa `ala aale muhammed.
Ameen

O God I ask you for the good of what was asked of you from our master Muhammad (alayhis salaatu wassalaam) and I seek refuge in you from the evil that our master Muhammad (alayhis salaatu wassalaam) took refuge from. And you are al-Mustan and upon you is al-Balagh and there is no power nor strength except with You.

O God forgive the Muslim men and Muslim women, the Believing Men and the Believing Women, the living of them and the dead, indeed you are hearing, near, and accepting of du'as.

That's not a Shia dua exclusively.. iirc I've heard it a lot in East Africa. I think it's popular with the Ba'Alawi & Qadiri tariqas. Sim can probably clarify.

Anyway, keep posting, guys. This is the best thread on Islamica, imo.

AL-WIRD AL-LATĪF
by:

AL-IMĀM ABDALLĀH BIN ALAWĪ AL-HADDĀD

Rady Allāhu Anhu

Transliteration and Translation

Bismillāhir Rahmānir Rahīm

Qul Huwallāhu Ahad
Allāhus Samad
lam yalid
wa lam yūlad
wa lam yakun lahū kufuwan ahad
(To be recited three times)

In the Name of Allāh, The Beneficent, The Merciful.
Say! (O Prophet Muhammad). He, Allāh, is One.
Allāh, The Eternally Besought.
He begets not,
nor is He begotten.
And there is none like Him. (112:1-4)

Bismillāhir Rahmānir Rahīm
Qul aūdhu bi-Rabbbil falaq
min sharri mā khalaq
wa min sharri ghāsiqin idhā waqab
wa min sharrin naffāthāti fil uqad
wa min sharri hāsidin idhā hasad
(To be recited three times)

In the Name of Allāh, The Beneficent, The Merciful.
Say! (O Prophet Muhammad). I take refuge with the Lord of the day-break;
from the evil of what He has created;
from the evil of the darkness when it gathers;
from the evil of the women who blow on knots (practicing witchcraft);
and from the evil of the envious when he envies. (113:1-5)

Bismillāhir Rahmānir Rahīm
Qul aūdhu bi-Rabbin-nās
Malikin nās
Ilāhin nās
min sharril waswāsil khannās
alladhī yuwaswisu fī sudūrin nās
min al-jinnati wan nās
(To be recited three times)

In the Name of Allāh, The Beneficent, The Merciful.
Say! (O Prophet Muhammad). I take refuge with The Lord of mankind,
The King of mankind,
The God of mankind;
from the evil of the (devilish) whisperings of one who slinks away;
who whispers in the breasts of mankind,
from among the jinn and mankind. (114:1-6)

Rabbi aūdhu bika min hamazātish-shayātīn
wa aūdhu bika Rabbi an yahdurūn
(To be recited three times)

My Lord! I seek refuge with You from the evil suggestions of the devils.
And I seek refuge with You from their presence. (23:97-98)

Afa-hasibtum annamā khalaqnākum abathan
wa annakum ilaynā lā turjaūn
Fa-Taālallāhul Malikul Haqq
lā ilāha illā Huwa Rabbul Arshil Karīm
Wa man yadu maAllāhi ilāhan ākhara
lā burhāna lahū bihī
fa innamā hisābuhū inda Rabbihī
innahū lā yuflihul kāfirūn
Wa qul Rabbighfir warham
wa Anta Khayrur Rāhimīn
(To be recited once)

Did you then think that We created you in vain,
and that you would not be returned to Us?
But Exalted is Allāh, the True King,
there is no god but He, Lord of the Honoured Throne.
And whosoever calls upon any other god besides Allāh
has no authority for this,
and his reckoning is with his Lord;
undoubtedly, the non-believers will not be successful.
And say (O Prophet Muhammad)! My Lord! Forgive and have mercy
and You are the Best of those who show mercy. (23:115-118)

So glorify Allāh
when you reach the time of the evening and the time of the morning.
And His is the Praise in the heavens and the earth,
and (glorify Him) in the late afternoon and when you reach mid-day.
He brings forth the living from the dead,
And He brings forth the dead from the living,
and He gives life to the earth after its death,
and in like manner you shall be brought forth (from the dead). (30:17-19)

If We had sent down this Qurān upon a mountain
you would certainly have seen it humbled, split asunder
out of the fear of Allāh;
and such examples We set forth for mankind
that they may reflect.
He is Allāh, there is no god but He,
The Knower of the invisible and the visible;
He is The Beneficent, The Merciful.
He is Allāh, there is no god but He,
The King, The Most Holy, The Bestower of Peace, The Granter of Security,
The Guardian, The Mighty, The Compeller, The Supreme in Greatness;
Transcendent is Allāh beyond what they ascribe as partner (with Him).
He is Allāh, The Creator, The Maker, The Shaper;
to Him belong the Most Beautiful Names;
all that is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Him,
and He is The Mighty, The Wise. (59:21-24)

Undoubtedly, he is among our most believing devotees. (37:79-81)
