Re: Polygyny
I agree with shadha.
if I were married to a man who insisted on marrying a woman to support her financially, emotionally, etc. we'd be getting a divorce. I can support myself financially and emotionally and would be better off without him. I don't share.

Re: Polygyny
assalamu alaykum
I agree with the point shadha made - a man can help a woman without being married to her, unless intimacy is playing a part. Besides, if a woman wants to get married there's nearly always a man who wants to marry her. Having children doesn't mean she won't find someone- there are men who have been widowed with children who would be happy to marry a woman with children and even previously unmarried, childless men.
I'm yet to see a woman w kids stay unmarried unless there's something wrong with her e.g bad reputation/pyscho etc. Of course this might change when we're even closer to the day of Judgement.
Also, a wife's objection to a second wife rarely stops the man from taking on another (at least in my old community). And anyway, men with 'big hearts' seek the permisson of their 1st family before taking on another, as tearing apart a family to help another would result in more bad than good.

Re: Polygyny
I think modern men don't have enough moral character to support one wife, let alone two. I say that as a woman, knowing how women can be to men. I bet even those men who expect to be kings in their castle with wives like servants will be complaining about how hard it is to handle one woman, and will drop any pretense at polygamy once they actually get married.

Do you actually think that the men back in the time of the Prophet's Companions were less king-like towards their wives? LOL
Dude, we men are way too soft to you women nowadays...just go back two generations ago, and see how things were! My grandma would not even refer to my grandfather by his name, because it was considered rude; so she would call him "mia sahab" (husband sir?) and "father of fazal (their first born son)."
One can only imagine the situation before this! Keep imaging things!

Re: Polygyny
Men have become weak. They have no real function. They serve no real purpose. This has led them to shirk all responsibilities, abandon their families and pursue their desires wherever they find them. They fail as protectors because the protected reject their wing. They fail as guardians, because the thieves have broken into the minds of their loved ones and left nothing to guard. They fail as providers, because their people reject their provisions. The women run from them unless they meet the checklist.
Women have become stronger, but stuck in confusion with so many responsibilites. They fail at work, because they need to tend to their families. They fail at family life because they need to go to their jobs. They have more money but more bills. They have more independence but no companion. They have freedom to bare themselves, and yet the men still run from them, seeking one more conquest after another.
The key to all things is balance. Women must return to their homes, and tend to their children. The men must return to the outside world and establish order there. The female and male energies must not fight each other. They must complement and aid each other. The Yin and the Yang must be in complete harmony.
