Default How I changed? Saeed Anwar

Saeed Anwar is a famous Pakistani cricket player who has drastically changed his life in order to become a better practicing Muslim.
This is a translated excerpt from his speech.

How I changed? Saeed Anwar

Today in this world, wherever there are Muslims, whichever corner they are residing in. Everywhere this Muslim is under stress. One Muslim is coming late from work at night, he is stressed. One Muslim has a daughter who is not coming back home at night. One has a son who doesn’t return home at night.

A rich Muslim, his worries are different. Sometimes, his children don’t listen to him. From day one, he fed them to realize the day his child can hold his head straight, he became disobedient. A poor Muslim, his worries are different. He is worried about something totally different. A sick man, he is worried about something else. A healthy man, he is worried about something else. A player, he is worried about else. The problem is not that we have less means or resources. In fact, today we have a lot more means available to us. If one just goes back 40 years ago, science has not advanced as such today. Never in the life of Pakistan, have there been as many doctors as today. Cricket players were never at this much ease. Every player has three doctors walking with him. So much technology has arrived. Our travels in an airplane have been so easy that one does not even need to sit but is told to lie down so that there is no back pain. We have a massager and doctor with us so that no pain should be experienced by us. But still pain and suffering is increasing in the world. People are more worried.
Never before have there been so many problems. Never before, I heard so many deaths occurring.

No one feels anything if 5000 or 10000 people die. In the past, one death would terrify the whole street that so and so died. Everyone would rush to the masjid. Today thousands of people die; no one even thinks or ponders about it. Why? Today, man has understood. Maybe if we make enough money, make our country better. Maybe, if we can have more means. Maybe we make progress in science. Maybe we should do this and that. Quite frequently, people ask why don’t you make this institute or why don’t you make this? Go anywhere. Let’s go to Japan. There are so many means and resources there. However, nearly 4000 people die every year. What seems to be the problem? What happened to this human being?

In America, I went to meet my friend. I asked him how is life? My friend replied that life is much better. In Pakistan, you would have to stand in lines etc. He would leave home in the morning and come back home at night. He doesn’t have time for himself or his family. After five days, I met him and told him is this what you call life. He replied with tears in his eyes that in America the system is based on usury. I have taken everything here on loans. From my carpet, furniture to my house, I have loans on them because of which I have to continually work. Everywhere you go in this world. Man is suffering from blood pressure. The one who has money, he cannot eat something sweet.

My friends, brothers and elders, every man in this world today is worried. Why? Because this man has left Allah (swt).

The reason why Allah revealed this religion to us is so that we don’t have problems. For success in this world and hereafter, this religion is revealed to us.

People think that Islam is just for our Hereafter. But Islam has come for this world also. Every solution to our problem is in our religion.
