Default Cell Phone vs. Quran

Cell Phone vs. Quran

I wonder what would happen if we treat our Quran like we treat our
cell phones.

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to kids as gifts?
What if we used it as we traveled?
What if we used it in case of an emergency?

This is something to make you go ...hmm...where is my Quran?

Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don't ever have to
worry about our Quran being disconnected!

Pass this on to everyone you know that has a cell phone.

Makes you
stop & think "where are my priorities?"

Would be perfectly valid if most of the Muslims I met weren't already treating their Qurans this way.

I respect your feelings, love and attachment to the "Holy Book"
But it is for our guidance and the best respect we can show to the "Holy Quran", is to understand it completely and follow it in letter and spirit. I am arfraid carrying it in purses or pockets is not a good idea as sometime one needs to go to certain places like toilets etc. The book should be kept in mosques and safe places in houses. It should be read, understood and be acted upon . We should remember its verses and carry it rather in our minds and reveal it through our action. A true muslim is termed as walking and talking "Quran".
Once again deep regards for your love for the "Holy Book".

Im sorry, I dont agree with this. I agree that it should be followed and acted upon and a Muslim should try to be a "walking and talking Qur'an", but if you keep it in a case or bag, its not a problem according to many scholars.

And whats the point if you have to leave it at home or in Mosques, its better to have it with you constantly so you can continouly remind yourself and reflect on the ayahs. Theres so many times in the day when we stand idol playing with random things on the phone, sending pointless texts. Why not have the Qur'an, read even a few ayahs and there you go, a reminder.

And remind, for the reminder benefits the beleivers.[51:55]

Thank you for the reminder Psycho.

there seems to be alot of talk (at least from what i noticed) around necklaces that say Allah on it or bringing in Qurans to the tiolet (not to read, but because you have it in ur purse, etc) and saying bismillah and shahada in wudu lately. some are argueing its ok, some say it isnt

the reasons agaisnt such practices - because the Prophet(SWAS) told us the bathroom is a dirty place, therefore such beauties of our religion (quran, etc) should not be in the bathroom.

the reasons for such practices - the bathrooms back in the day are not the same as the bathrooms nowadays. nowadays, the bathrooms are just like any other part of the house - its clean and could even be cleaner then some other rooms in the house. back in the day (and in some third world countries), the bathroom is still dirty because of lack of proper sanitization and plumbing systems.

Please don't take it as this. I shared my view with you and I don't consider myself right or Mr. Perfect in every thing. You are right to keep the "Holy Quran" with you so you can recite it in idol time. What I wanted to draw your attention to is that once has to visit some places which are not suitable for such a holy thing. But in the last it often comes to the intention behind the action which counts.

But may I ask you a question. Have you ever taken your lunch, dinner or tea in a toilet?
No matter how dirty your living room is but you will have no trouble having your lunch, dinner or tea there, but can you take your lunch, dinner or tea in a clean toilet?
Do you get me?

Asalamu Alaikum,

We had these handed out as book marks at the place I took my summer courses. Its a nice gentle reminder, MashaAllah.

I don't think we should go into the message literally. I believe the reminder is that, we keep our cell phones as if they're life lines, and are constantly checking it, reading things, accessorizing it.

Why do we do that? Because we believe our Cell phone to be really important and precious to us.

What we should understand from this is, that our Quran should be more important and deserving of the feelings and time we give our cell phone. As its kindof pathetic how we invest so much in that cell and yet our Quraan is sitting on the highest shelf, wrapped up and waiting....always on hold.

Fi AmanAllah

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. By this logic, a true Muslim should never go to the bathroom because he would be disrepecting himself as a walking, talking Quran.

When I first read the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be about people's cell phones ringing in the masjid during the salat. I was about to go off on a tangent, but alas I ended up being made happy by the initial post of this thread.
