Very true, mahsallah. For me remembering to praise Allah during the happy moments needs better attention.

Re: Dhikr Allah
A companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The Prophet asked us to do seven things: to visit the sick, to follow funeral processions, to seek God's mercy for someone who sneezes, to return greetings, to help those who are wronged, to accept invitations, and to fulfill our oaths and promises."
Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 3, Hadith 625

Turn away from vanity and seek Him in the recesses of your heart and soul. Show patience in adversity and be content in His will that you may attain proximity to God. [Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani]

Re: Dhikr Allah
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said,
“There are two statements that are light for the tongue to remember, heavy in the Scales and are dear to the Merciful: `Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, Subhan-Allahil-Azim [Glory be to Allah and His is the praise, (and) Allah, the Greatest is free from imperfection)’.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Re: Dhikr Allah
Sayyidina Abdullaah bin Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:
‘If a person is in distress no matter whether his distress is related to his person or his wealth — and he neither discloses his distress. Nor does he complain to the people, then Allah has taken it upon Himself to forgive him.
(Tabarani)

Re: Dhikr Allah
” O Allah You are my Cherisher. There is no deity except You. You have created me and I am Your servant and as far as possible, I abide by my solemn promise and covenant(which I made to You). I seek Your protection against the consequences of my wrong doings. I full acknowledge the grace You have bestowed upon me and I confess my faults. So pardon me as none besides You can pardon sins.”
Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said that any servant of Allah who recites the above Istighfaar with sincerity and conviction of heart at any time during the day and dies before nightfall, will most certainly enter Jannah. Similarly, one who recites it at night and dies before morning will enter Jannah.” (BUKHARI)
It is for this reason that it has been named “Sayyidul- Istighfaar” meaning “The leading form of Repentance.”
Also, the extraordinary merit of this Istighfaar lies most probably in the abundance of humility and servitude found in this Dua.

Re: Dhikr Allah
"Muslims are just in their dealings with others, and hence measure and weigh correctly because they fear Allah. We see an excellent example of this in Hadrat Imam Abu Hanifa, who used to own a clothing store. One day he returned home earlier than usual and someone asked, "Abu Hanifa, you usually come later than this, why are you coming early today?" Hadrat Abu Hanifa i answered, "Today there was a thick cloud cover and so people would not have been able to tell the difference between different qualities of cloth. I closed early so that my customers are not defrauded by this."

Travel to Allah is done through three things: high aspiration (himmah), returning to Allah in obedience, and relying and taking refuge in Him all the time. [Ibn Ataillah]

Re: Dhikr Allah
Allah has a water container in the earth, which is the heart. The hearts that Allah likes most are those which are the strongest, the purest, and the softest--------strongest in religion, purest in trust, and softest towards one's brother. [Ali radi Allah anhu]

Abu Hazim replied, “Because you have built and established this world and you have destroyed your Aakhirah, so you hate to go from what you have established to what you have destroyed.”

Allah's love for us manifests itself in His giving us the ability to know what kind of actions, what kind of life, will lead us to salvation and felicity; and how to save ourselves from things that are against our birthright, our nature, and our reason for being in this world. [Imam Birgivi]

Re: Dhikr Allah
Laka'l-Hamd
Praise be to You O Possessor of Kindness,
Pardoner, Who veils what is past.
Even my praise is just one of Your blessings,
You whose pure goodness is vast.
Praise be to You by the number of raindrops,
And by the stones and the sand,
And by the number of fish in the ocean,
And all the plants on the land.
Praise be to You by the ants beyond number
And all the jinn and mankind,
By the expanse of the Throne and the heavens,
Where countless stars pearl-like shine.
And by the vastness of space and the Tablet
And the Footstool and moist clay,
And by the number of all of the beings
Right up until the Last Day.
Praise be to You O my Lord and my Master
