Its intoxicants that are haraam.
Non-intoxicating alcohols aren't - alcohol is just a word used for a classification of one range of compounds. Its also used to describe intoxicating drinks, when used in the context of liquor, bars, beer, etc.
Make the distinction.

Re: Alcohol in products?
alcohol-free mouthwashes are better for you, anyway.
as for alcohol in soap, etc. no amount of soap or perfume will intoxicate you.

Re: Alcohol in products?
There are small amounts of alcohol in fruit, probably more than you'd be getting from toothpaste. I wouldn't worry about it.
(I didn't know toothpaste had alcohol in it )

Wow someone with sense..am I still on Islamica?
People can't make the distinction between the word for alcohol and the word for Intoxiating drink...

Re: Alcohol in products?
Mouthwash has a fairly high content. There are alcoholics who use it to get drunk when nothing else is available.

Re: Alcohol in products?
duh clever clogs i know im not guna exactly get drunk after using alcohol related products.. i werent born yesterday!!! i dont need to patronised....(not all of you)
i asked this question just be clear my doubts!!! u would be suprised by how many people are paronoid and most of the time buy alcohol free products!!! alot of people believe that alcohol should not even touch the skin.... now something that has been made haram it is very easy to fall into that assumption... obviously the making of alcohol goes through stages... so i havnt stopped using such products!!
see what iv noticed here on Islamica its not such a "islamic forum",this...iv noticed on other threads as well!!. its crap that people are constantly down each other throats, making digs, just being petty!! also some people just like to look down on other people instead of explaining things in an appropriate manner..!! Tut tut! thinking they're something which they are clearly not!! Just cuz you guys know of something alot deeper doesnt mean we all do!!
whatever happened to being non-prejudice! people need to be more of a role model for Non muslims that maybe on here too!!!

I'm one of them...
But my situation is different because in Malaysia, there's wide range of certified halal products including things like medicine, bodyspray, cosmetics, food and etc. I have the power to choose.
Malaysia Halal Hub rules!!!
