Certain "Salafis" don't like "Sufis". However realistically Ibn Tayymiyyah criticised certain aspects of "Sufi" practices whilst recogniseing a need of Tasawwuf within the confides of the Shari'a.
Stop being retarded by using Wahhabi, its not a real word and you are bastardizing the word Al-Wahhab (The Bestower) one of the glorious names of Allah.

I know he has praised some sufis and I know he has also criticized certain aspects of sufism. Don't think it makes him a sufi but to each his own I guess.

Depends on what you consider a Sufi, many understand the word to mean A Muslim who has risen to the rank of Shaykh of Tasawwuf or a scholar of the same subject. The reason Ibn Taymiyyah may ahve worn the Qadiri cloak is that he was considered a Shaykh.
HOwever many understand a Sufi as one who worships saints and dances and such, obviously this is mis-information.

There is no way to reason with him. He just doesn't get it. I feel bad for his future wife.

that's difference between me and you wahabis. i dont need any sect to follow. while its true that there are some aspects of wahabism i do agree with, such as removing cultural nonsense, and desis with thier caste based class based society, always obssesed over class and money, clinging on to old ignorant cultural ideas, most of which, believe it or not, hails from victorian england, do need to rid themselves of. but overall there's a lot of it i dont agree with. i attend a tablighi jamaat masjid, but i am not a member of tablighi jamaat. i dont need to follow anyone, i dont need someone else to interprete Islam for me. i have my views, i have my ideas, i have my beliefs. they just happen to be more open minded than most people. does that mean im calling for women to lead men in prayer? no, its nothing insane or radical, just a belief that God's mercy and love for man shines down on us. and that core message of islam, peace, mercy, charity, sympathy, and how man treats other men, are the core essense. before you can teach morality to people, first you have to teach man these qualities, because man in the end is inheritaly evil. if he is not taught these things, how can you then teach him anything else? like no liqour, or memorizing quran.

So who taught you? I mean everyone needs to be taught the basics of any subject. I aggre with you in a way as I don't thinmk one should limit themselves to one teacher when it comes to Islam.
However I don't think its a good idea to take it upon yourself to be your own teacher, that can cause problems especially if you only have a passing familiarity with the Arabic Language.
