Re: Isna 2007
I don't know if I'd go to ISNA...sounds fun,but...
if a jamaat is going from my masjid I might hop along...but I'm thousands of miles away from Chicag.

Re: Isna 2007
so i attended the isna convention tonite, well the bazaar really, i ran into alot of old freinds there, and some of my other freinds showed up too and i was hanging out with them. but the stupid isna wouldnt allow anyone without a pre-paid pass to enter the bazaar, so we found another way to sneak in lol.
everything was overpriced, the same stuff they were selling there, you could get on devon av, at islamic books and things, or iqra book shop at half the price. plus half of what they were selling were way over prices, and half the shops on devon already sell the same stuff at half the price.
alot of hijabi girls were there, and girls with no hijab on, some just wore shawl to cover their bosoms, and wearing really tight tight jeans hahaha.
but alot of beautiful girls no doubt about that. these events are held for families to take thier children too so they can expose thier kids to culture and faith so they dont become 'corrupt amreekans' that was my take on isna, the reason why all those bollywood movie theaters exist around chicago, and they have those eid prayers in huge halls or hold india and pakistan day parades.
but looking at all those desi girls, they all had 'stuck up' written on thier faces. and it was no different than paki day, eid, etc.. each girl acting like she's god's gift to man.
oh ya i stopped by the islamica booth too. lol, selling shirts that had silly sayings on them. funny no one seemed to recognize me. ooh well, i felt like trashing the booth, i probably should have.

Re: Isna 2007
nope, i really doubt it, i didnt recognize them either. besides they were selling shirts, not everyone who was buying them were using this site.
how do i know?
i asked one guy, he said no he doesnt use this site, he just liked the shirts that were being sold.
he was buying a shirt that said 'marry me im a doctor', some guy from out of town, so i said to him that he will get alot of rishtas, because he was wearing a prayer cap and i said 'they will care more about what whats written on the shirt than what your wearing on your head'!

Re: Isna 2007
Insha'allah that was my last ISNA conference unless significant changes are made to it. I found it lacking and the only thing I really enjoyed was the bazaar. Yes, it's always a pleasure to hear Sheikh Hamza, Zaid Shakir and Imam Siraj but I can hear them in other places. The entertainment session was wack (I found out the good was taking place in the Hyaat). The workshops were mediorce. I've come to realize how poor the etiquette of some Muslims is; talking over the imams speaking, cell phones ringing during the workshops, people answering their phones while a presenter is speaking, people cutting lines, saving a gizillion seats for absent relatives during lectures and even on the shuttle etc.
I'm so through.
