Murder in the Bible

Quote:
1) Capital Punishment Crimes:

Kill People Who Don't Listen to Priests

Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)

Kill Witches

You should not let a sorceress live. (Exodus 22:17 NAB)

Kill Homosexuals
"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

Kill Fortunetellers

A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)

Death for Hitting Dad

Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB)

Death for Cursing Parents

1) If one curses his father or mother, his lamp will go out at the coming of darkness. (Proverbs 20:20 NAB)

2) All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense. (Leviticus 20:9 NLT)

you know, as muslims, we tend to dislike it when people from other faiths take our Quranic verses out of context and use said verses to 'prove' that muslims are misguided or violent or whatever idiotic point they're trying to make, so...

it might be in our best interests if we refrain from doing the exact same thing with verses from their book, regardless of whether or not that book is considered sacred or the real word of God by muslims. you know, treat others as you wish to be treated and all that jazz?

posting some piece of information doesnt mean that we're passing a judgement on them.

Calling it the 'evil' Bible does in fact constitute passing judgement on them

oh, the term "evil" when used to describe the bible doesn't imply any sort of judgement call, does it?

and those 'pieces of information' are taken out of context and used to support someone's agenda against the bible and/or christians.

I guess you don't mind when people take our ayah that states "kill the disbelievers where you find them" out of context and use it against us, hm?

So how does it make you feel when evangelical Christians selectively quote verses from the Quran showing that Muslims are out to kill everyone?

No wait, you're forgetting Christians don't have to follow any of the rules in the Bible, they just have to accept Jesus Christ died for their sins. You silly billy, you.

Why is that when people want to go on about strange verses from the Bible that they mostly stick to the Old Testament, which was a law applying to the Jews. And kudos to everyone above who stated the obvious about taking verses out of context. A lot of people are guilty of that, on both sides. Just quit it and learn to get along.

Nice to see a non-Christian doing tafsir of the Bible like Islamophobes do to the Qur'an... Yet somehow we don't like it or respect it when they do.
