Al-Muwatta Hadith Hadith 47.8 Good Character
Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "I was sent to perfect good character."


Al-Muwatta Hadith Hadith 47.9 Modesty (regard for decency of behavior, speech, dress, etc.)
Yahya related to me from Malik from Salama ibn Safwan ibn Salama az-Zuraqi that Zayd ibn Talha ibn Rukana, who attributed it to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'Every deen has an innate character. The character of Islam is modesty.' "
( Innate =Possessed at birth; inborn. Possessed as an essential characteristic; inherent.)

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith Hadith 5099 Narrated byAisha
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) used to say, "O Allah, as Thou hast made my form beautiful so make my character beautiful."
Ahmad transmitted it.

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4782 Narrated by AbuUmamah
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: I guarantee a house in the surroundings of Paradise for a man who avoids quarrelling even if he were in the right, a house in the middle of Paradise for a man who avoids lying even if he were joking, and a house in the upper part of Paradise for a man who made his character good


Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith Hadith 5.104 Narrated by Abdullah bin Amr
Allah's Apostle neither talked in an insulting manner nor did he ever speak evil intentionally. He used to say, "The most beloved to me amongst you is the one who has the best character and manners." He added, "Learn the Qur'an from (any of these) four persons: 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud, Salim the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifa, Ubai bin Ka'b, and Mu'adh bin Jabal."


Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4665 Narrated by AbuHurayrah
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: The most perfect believer in respect of faith is he who is best of them in manners.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith Hadith 8.56B Narrated by Masruq
Abdullah bin 'Amr mentioned Allah's Apostle saying that he was neither a Fahish nor a Mutafahish. Abdullah bin 'Amr added, "Allah's Apostle said, 'The best among you are those who have the best manners and character.' "

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith Hadith 626 Narrated by AbudDarda'
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Nothing is weightier in the scales of a believer on the Day of Judgment than his good behaviour. Allah treats with displeasure a person who is given to loose and vulgar talk.( vulgar = indecent)
Transmitted by Tirmidhi.




Al-Tirmidhi Hadith Hadith 4832 Narrated by AbuHurayra
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "Do you know the thing which most commonly brings people into Paradise? It is fear of Allah and good character. Do you know what most commonly brings people into Hell? It is the two hollow things: the mouth and the private parts."
Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted


Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4780 Narrated by Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) said: By his good character a believer will attain the degree of one who prays during the night and fasts during the day.



Faith
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith Hadith 1.8 Narrated byAbu Huraira
The Prophet said, "Faith (Belief) consists of more than sixty branches (i.e. parts). And Haya (This term "Haya" covers a large number of concepts which are to be taken together; amongst them are self respect, modesty, bashfulness, and scruple, etc.) is a part of faith."

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith Hadith 5077 Narrated by AbuHurayrah
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "Modesty is part of faith and faith is in Paradise, but obscenity is a part of hardness of heart and hardness of heart is in Hell."
(Obscenity = Indecency, offensiveness in behavior, expression, or appearance. )
Transmitted by Ahmad and Tirmidhi.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith Hadith 4796 Narrated by AbuUmamah
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, Modesty and inability to speak are two branches of faith, but obscenity and eloquence are two branches of hypocrisy." ( eloquence =the power of expressing feelings or thoughts in words that impress or move other people)
Transmitted by Tirmidhi.




Al-Muwatta Hadith Hadith 47.9 Modesty

HAYA
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith
Hadith 8.138 Narrated by
Abu As Sawar Al Adawi
'Imran bin Husain said, "The Prophet said, 'Haya' does not bring anything except good.' " Thereupon Bashir bin Ka'b said, "It is written in the wisdom paper: Haya leads to solemnity; Haya leads to tranquility (peace of mind)." 'Imran said to him, "I am narrating to you the saying of Allah's Apostle and you are speaking about your paper (wisdom book)?"
Tirmidhi transmitted it.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith Hadith 1741 Narrated by Anas ibn Malik
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Indecency disfigures everything and modesty (Haya') enhances the charm of everything.( Charm = a power of pleasing or attracting)
Transmitted by Tirmidhi.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith Hadith 8.139 Narrated by Abdullah bin Umar
The Prophet passed by a man who was admonishing his brother regarding Haya and was saying, "You are very shy, and I am afraid that might harm you." On that, Allah's Apostle said, "Leave him, for Haya is (a part) of Faith."


LYING
Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4782 Narrated by AbuUmamah

Al-Muwatta Hadith
Hadith 56.19
Malik related to me that Safwan ibn Sulaym said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was asked, 'Can the mumin be a coward?' He said, 'Yes.' He was asked, 'Can the mumin be a miser?' He said, 'Yes.' He was asked, 'Can the mumin be a liar?' He said, 'No.' " ( Miser =a stingy)


Al-Tirmidhi Hadith Hadith 4836 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "He who keeps silence will be safe."
Transmitted by Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Darimi and Bayhaqi, in Shu'ab al-Iman.


Sahih Muslim Hadith Hadith 7142 Narrated by Miqdad ibn Amr
Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) commanded us that we should throw dust upon the faces of those who shower too much praise.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith Hadith 1740 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: A believer does not taunt, curse, abuse or talk indecently.

BACKBITTING
Surah Al-Hujurat Ruku 2 Surah 49

12 O ye who believe! avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin: and spy not on each other nor speak ill of each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay ye would abhor it...but fear Allah: for Allah is Oft-Returning Most Merciful. 4931 4931 4932

Sahih Muslim Hadith Hadith 6265 Narrated by AbuHurayrah
Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: Do you know what is backbiting? They (the Companions) said: Allah and His Apostle (peace be upon him) know best. Thereupon he (the Prophet) said: Backbiting implies your talking about your brother in a manner which he does not like. It was said to him: What is your opinion about this that if I actually find (that failing) in my brother which I made a mention of? He said: If (that failing) is actually found (in him) what you assert, you in fact backbited him, and if that is not in him it is a slander. ( slander =an untrue spoken, not written, statement about a person with the intention of damaging that person's reputation)


ANGER
Sahih Muslim Hadith Hadith 6313 Narrated by AbuHurayrah

Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: The strong man is not one who wrestles well but the strong man is one who controls himself when he is in a fit of rage.( rage = angry fury; violent anger. )


Al-Tirmidhi Hadith Hadith 5114 Narrated by AbuDharr
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "When one of you becomes angry while standing he should sit down. If the anger leaves him, well and good; otherwise he should lie down."
Transmitted by Ahmad and Tirmidhi.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith Hadith 8.135 Narrated by Abu Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one who controls himself while in anger."

A man said, "Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) what rights can parents demand from their children?" He replied, "They are your Paradise and your Hell."

Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: The world is a prison-house for a believer and Paradise for a non-believer.

The Paradise is surrounded by hardships and the Hell-Fire is surrounded by temptations.
