Default wahabhis decline?

In recent years specially after the september 11 attacks, it seems to me that the interest in wahabhism has declined in the muslim community. I remember in the late 90's every one wanted to be a wahabhi and they would call themselves wahabhis. I guess people learn with time.

First of all, refer to them as 'Salafis', not 'Wahhabis' as the latter has negative connotations. Second of all, I think the decline is more apparent in places like U.S. and U.K., but in other places the Salafi dawah is still very much alive. The "decline" is not only due to the aftermath of Sept. 11 attacks, but also internal dissension that took place in the late 90s/early 21st century that was mostly orchestrated by the SPUBS. The moderate Salafis are still strong in certain areas in the U.S. and U.K. and there are signs of a revival going on.

None of the Wahabis minded being called Wahabi up until the 9/11 attacks. I'm not going to call them by their new name if they keep changing it every ten minutes.

This is a misleading question as betaab/akram2/dubai3000's definition of wahhabi is anyone who practices Islam fully and forbids sexual perversion.

There are no census figures that record wahhabi so I doubt some dumbass on the net can claim their numbers are falling.

A lot of Salafis are the first ones who pointed out the decline in the dawah.

As others have said, I don't think the Salafi dawah is going to die out, its just going through a period of recession and is currently in a state of flux. As new 'Ulema and leaders, the movement will re-organize itself. Its like the link between the progressives and the modernist movement.

same here. i was one of them once, now i regret ever listening to those idoits. they are nothing more than fanatics. i have seen how they seek to impose thier sect on everyone else. its pathetic really. they are puritans and nothing more. and alot of of thier puritanical beliefs actually go against Islam. people like jinzaman here for example are hardcore wahabis. let's call for what they are, followers of abdul wahab, a puritanical fanatic, who declared everthing to be 'haram'.

ya because they have the saudi's, the founding fathers of wahabism, backing them left and right.

there is no such thing as a 'moderate' wahabi, their end result were the lunatics in the taliban. if you want to see what wahabism is all about, look no further than the taliban, fanatical puritans at its worst.

your better off being a sufi.

Hahah bring proof before you speak. Brother Jinnzaman is far from following the teachings of Abdul Wahab. He is from the Hanafi school of Fiqh. Please bring proof next time you try to smear a hardworking brothers name through the mud.

YOur actions ar emore Wahabi than his as you are making accusations with no proof other than your own opinion.
