kissing the wife does not break the fast.
but if thereis probability of janabat then it is makruh.

Both terms are classifications in fiqh. Islam is a legalistic religion, and fiqh is the Islamic jurisprudence.
Makruh means "disliked" or "hated". It is the classifications between "haram" (forbidden) and "mubah" (permissible). There's more about these classifications here
Janabat is a state of ritual impurity. It means like, if you've just engaged in intimate relations with your spouse, or if you're a woman, if you've just had your menses, you're in a state of janabat. You need to do ghusl ul-janabat, which basically means washing yourself in a specific way. It's like having a shower basically, but you do specific actions.

I think the guy is saying an affectionate kiss to the wife doesn't invalidate the fast.
Heavy petting leading to... excitement can result in janaba.
I think that's what he's saying.

Okay, but excitement aside isn't any kind of sexual contact forbidden anyway? I mean, a peck on the cheek on your way out the door to work isn't necessarily "sexual," but clearly there are a lot of other things that one might do which ARE, and these are forbidden.
My point is, it seems talking about "excitement" and so forth is moot, isn't it? Anything that is sexual enough to lead to that is already forbidden by the terms of the fast, or so I thought.
