Iran's Ambassador to the UN, Mohammad Khazaee
Iran's Ambassador to the UN Mohammad Khazaee has criticized efforts by certain powers to negotiate with extremist and terrorist groups.

"This move will lead to return of extremism in Afghanistan which will not only fail to resolve the country's problems but intensify insecurity," Khazaee said addressing the UN Security Council session on Afghanistan in New York Tuesday.

The ambassador said that Afghanistan faces the combined challenges of insecurity, a humanitarian crisis and narcotics smuggling, adding that Tehran always supports Kabul's stability, security and development.

Seven years after the US-led invasion of Afghanistan marked the start of the so-called War on Terror, a leaked draft of a US National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) report has confirmed that the war-ridden country is on a 'downward spiral' into corruption, drugs and insurgency-related violence.

The widespread violence in Afghanistan has raised serious concern in the West. US Defense Secretary Robert Gates says Washington has no choice but to 'ultimately' reconcile with the Taliban as part of a much-needed 'exit strategy' for the beleaguered Bush administration.

According to recent reports, the US-led coalition began secret talks with the Taliban after they reached an impasse in their effort to tackle insurgency in the war-ravaged country.

Khazaee called on the international community to help reconstruct Afghanistan, develop important sectors of the country and educate the Afghan people.

"We believe that major leaps should be taken towards strengthening the Afghan police and army, and transferring administration of security affairs to the Afghan government. These measures will settle the issue of insecurity," he said.

As disgusting as they are, I agree with Iran here. The taliban must never be tolerated as they are doing normal muslims more harm then any other group single handedly.

Just ones with empty rhetoric. Can't say the same for the Saudis or the Taliban, however.

It’s rather pathetic that instead of answering the question you direct it back at me, however I will make a comment:.

The short answer is that I wouldn’t unless the question was conditioned by reference to particular country and or culture.

Now you used the term so let’s have an answer

Stop playing with semantics and answer the damn question in a general term.

How would I define it? I wouldn't

I just wanted to make you look like a fool.
