I'm not a fan of those who tend to obsess over the ghayb. When the world ends should hold no weight on how you live your life. If you knew your demise was coming a week from now... your heart and soul should be in such harmony that there would be no reason for you to fear it.

actually sorry guys i didn't read in to the project that much before creating the thread, the collision of particles will actually happen some time in mid october, which is when many people fear that black holes might be created. Yesterday was nothing but turning on the machine. we shall wait and see what will happen in mid october

Well, the the end of the world certainly didn't prompt you to change your bad habits, that's for sure.

Well, we're still here, so I guess the world didn't end. But honestly, the guys who conducted this experiment should be jailed. If someone conducts a science experiment, I don't want to hear that the odds of the world collapsing into itself are a trillion to one against. I want the odds to be nonexistant. Anything else and you're just playing with a potential weapon of mass destruction. Giving odds is merely a way of saying that it could happen.

And frankly, these guys weren't doing anything particularly useful either. If the potential world-ending device was there to cure all disease and end world hunger, they'd have a reason to do it. But these guys only did it out of curiosity. No useful inventions are going to come out of this. That's one hell of a trade-off.
