New Delhi: It's the clearest signal yet that the UPA Government is preparing for mid-term polls.
A day before the Sachar panel debate in Parliament, the Government has put two major minority welfare schemes on fast track.
After a top-level meeting in the Prime Minister’s Office last week, CNN-IBN has learnt that the Government has set up two committees.
The first committee will help set up the Equal Opportunities Commission.
Anyone from the minority Muslim community who feels he has been discriminated against can ask for redressal from the Commission.
The second committee will help formulate the Diversity Index. Special incentives will be given to government and private institutes once they have better diversity in their rolls.
Professor Madhav Menon, who is chairing the working committee group of Equal Opportunities Commission spoke to CNN-IBN exclusively. “I have tentatively given my consent but it is subject to the Government approving it,” he said.
