^ she is as gulity as the suicide bomber by not telling the truth, you tell me what is the difference between them? she helped him in every step. The only difference i can see is she doesn't die during the suicide mission.

She was an accomplice and I agree she deserved punishment, as did the other accomplices. I kind of agree with bluestar thought that the sentence was a bit harsh...then again, she was an accomplice to attempted mass-murder. Mass murder (hiraba) is considered the worst crime in Islam and in the Qur'an it says to punish the offender very very severely (other examples of ppl who commit hiraba are school shooters and the like...it's indiscriminate mass murder).

Judging by his 4th post in this thread ... it doesn't seem so.

Bummer.

Is there a source somewhere where we could find the proper Islamic punishment for complicity to attempted hiraba?

Pakistan has plenty of laws relating to hirabah.

Google it, you'll find plenty of documents and sources, including directly from Pakistan government itself.

PM me your e-mail and I'll shoot you a bunch articles on hiraba. They aren't specifically on the topic of complicity in hiraba, but hiraba in general.

I found this quoted on some blog:

"Hiraba is another hadd crime defined in the Quran. It is variously translated as "forcible taking," "highway robbery," "terrorism," or "waging war against the state." The crime of hiraba is based on the following Quranic verse: The punishment for those who wage war [yuharibuna] against God and His Prophet, and perpetrate disorders in the land is: kill or crucify them, or have a hand on one side and a foot on the other cut off or banish them from the land (Quran 5:33)."

So if this crime was considered hiraba, then the dude should be killed/crucified/multiply amputated and banished. I couldn't find anything about accomplices. What about if he was caught before he did anything, and only was working towards making it happen?

Yea that's the thing...his intention was to do it but he didn't actually do it. His wife aided him in killing but again, he didnt do any killing because he was stopped by authorities (alhamdulillah). That's why i didnt say something like "they deserve their punishments" because I dont know what the appropriate punishments under shariah would be (harsher, the same or more lenient). None of us here are qualified muslim judges or anything close, therefore I think we should refrain from trying to extract a legal ruling from this....but of course this is islamica and the regular bickering bunch will likely soon take over.

May Allah forgive us. ameen.

Rape of a child, a terrible deed, however rape, even of a child, is that a fair comparison with mass murder

The poor women was no doubt torn between loyalty to her husband and that of others, she made the wrong choice, made an example of, yes I dare-say, is that wrong

No it's not, i didn't mean to compare but to highlight the issue that there is no consistency with legal punishment. Often punishment does not reflect the seriousness of the crime that has been committed. Also, luckily she's not American because she'd probably be given the death sentence (since they have the highest rate in the world right now)

Yes, it is. She should be given punishment according to the crime that she committed.

Well I guess we all have opinions on what various crimes merit in the way of punishment, hence the need for laid down punishments and in order to allow for circumstances a range within those sentences.

Okay your opinion, however did you consider that sentences aim to deter as well as punish and rehabilitate.

As matter of interest what punishment do you consider was warranted?

Hmm, i think she'd be more likely to get into it again if she was kept inside for longer. It's scary what bitterness can lead a person to do.

If she was given a shorter sentence, it would have scared her, if not taught her that it was a place she didn't want to be in again.
