i don't understand why we're spending so much time focusing on the color of one's hijab as opposed to the mannerisms that are supposed to go hand in hand with wearing hijab generally. one can wear a "modest" hijab as you define it, completely black and lacking "flashiness," but at the same time flirt with every other guy one comes across.
clearly our priorities are out of wack.

i'd like to add, why are so many of you guys so concerned with women's issues anyway? We know hijab is fard and if we dont we have other women and Islamic sources to tell us and Allah to guide us. Please stop spending so much time preaching to us and go work on yourself.

THANK YOU.
that's why i didn't bother answering the question from the other thread, which left Z thinking he was the isht. i think we're quite capable of seeking the knowledge and educating ourselves about OUR issues, if we haven't already been raised with that sense by our parents. my mother could teach me 7892379 times more about hijab and modesty than some loser guy on an internet forum.

Didnt you earlier propose modest women can be flashy? Then you post an answer and omit a relevant part. Why?
I agree with you about mannerisms. In regards to this particular thread, you also support the mannerisms of the women who are participating in this contest.
In all cases, I dont follow what part of modesty you purport?

I think the issue here is an Islamic issue, not a women issue. The "we" part is misleading. Not every Muslimah wears a hijab. A number of women also commented on this contest and the requirements of modesty, so your point is moot.

Actually, you just sidestep most of the questions and think you're the isht at giving someone a verbal rundown together with your online friends.

Cool it with the assumptions dude. You obviously weren't here when Islamica Photo Albums II and III were in existence, each thread running into a few hundred pages each.

i don't really care whether you follow or not. it's not my problem that you are deficient in critical thinking and lack the ability to follow an argument, whether it's presented by a forum user or by a scholar on sunnipath. if, in your fit of immaturity, you had not deleted the thread, you would have had an opportunity to re-read my posts with an open mind, and would have picked up exactly "what part of modesty i purport."

Wait, YOU copy paste an answer from sunnipath and omit sentences from the paragraph to suit YOUR purpose and you say I'm deficient in critical thinking and lack the ability to follow an argument? And the posts which you cite above in which you skipped over my question? Wow.

No, you would just like to think my point is moot because you disagree. It's an Islamic Women's issue.. or Muslim Women's issue, however you would like to phrase it. Would you like to go and start a thread now about how women should do ghusl properly after their period is over or debate about other personal women's Islamic issues concerning cleanliness?
Also, I am aware not every Muslimah wears a hijab but that does not change the fact that it is fard does it? I'm not trying to pass any judgment on non-hijabis, what I want to say is that us Muslimahs can figure this out and deal with it by ourselves and amongst ourselves. I think Muslim men should spend more time on Muslim men's issues such as "how to control your temper" and "the problem of domestic abuse in Muslim homes"

No, I said its a moot issue because other women commented about this subject/thread, including as you say bluey. Its really interesting how you'd liken a ghusl and periods to hijab/modesty.
Its also interesting that you've segregated a religion with gender specifics. Next time I look at the Quran, I'll be sure to turn to the men only section.

Or:
1) how to lower your gaze
2) how to control your sexual urges around niqabi women
3) men's hijab - why hot pants are not hot, especially on your bony butt
but clearly none of that will happen, since women are clearly the root of all that is wrong in the world.

Basically what I am saying is, stop concentrating on women's issues so much. Most of us already know what is expected of us and if we don't it's not like we cannot teach ourselves or that other women, friends or family will not correct us. It's really annoying to keep having you men constantly self-righteously posting articles about hijab and how it's fard and we have to do it this way or it's considered wrong. I started wearing hijab because my female teachers at Islamic school taught me about it and my female friends encouraged me.
Have you ever stopped to make sure your clothing is 100% halaal/sunnah? Do you wear short pants everyday to avoid dragging garments? Do you make sure your knees and navel NEVER show? Is your beard long enough, what about your mustache? Do you ever see any women going on and on about these specifically men's issues? No, because we expect that you already know about it or that other men will educate you on it. So kindly shut it and go concentrate on your own issues (like I mentioned before, the more serious ones are spousal abuse in Muslim homes which often entails a Muslim man beating his wife and/or children, also you would be shocked at how many MUSLIM MEN indulge in pornography and other haraam activities...THESE are men's issues)

EXACTLY. Those are also men's issues that men should work on before coming here and preaching to women about how we should dress. Go ahead and advise your sister, mother, wife or daughter to wear hijab or dress more modestly (you cannot force them) but stay away from mass preaching to Muslim women.
Might I also point out, you are talking about modesty when your signature contains an immodest play on a very nice sister's screenname.

So by the above, I assume you also agree that women know not to participate in a "Miss Headscarf" contest?
