BTW, this isn't exactly a new. The Dutch are being apologetic on this one, they could have said much worse. Did I say I was okay with it? No. I don't see a difference between attacking the revered Prophet/Founder/Leader of the religion, and the religion itself.

All I caught from the article was that he was saying that Jesus may have been the product of a rape. For all I know, or anyone knows... he may have been. That hypothesis in and of itself isn't offensive. Yeh, there's a good chance he's just trying to rock some boats (again in which case I couldn't care less). But then again he may be drawing from credible lines of evidence.

That kind of "hypothesis" [that Prophet Jesus may have been a product of rape] is offensive to Muslims and Christians on two counts:

a) Everyone knows Jesus' conception was immaculate.
b) That the Virgin Mary was one of the most, if not the most chaste woman, to have ever lived.

All these years you've spent around Muslims and Christians didn't clue you into that? Or were you just playing dumb again?

are you trying to say he had an immaculate conception? because the phrase "immaculate conception" refers to the sinless state of Mary at birth. "virgin birth" refers to Jesus' "fatherless" birth. Nothing personal, I just hate it when people dont get stuff straight...i guess it comes with being a religious studies major
