Child abuser jailed for groping


A serial sex offender who groped a seven-year-old girl during a fireworks display while he was out of prison on licence has been jailed for 15 months.
Gordon Rees, 40, was spotted touching the child at the event in Cardiff Bay in July.

Other members of the crowd saw what he was doing and called security officers.

Rees was found guilty of sexual assault at an earlier hearing. Jailing him, a judge at Newport Crown Court said he was a man who "preyed upon children".

The court heard how Rees had a previous conviction for gross indecency on an 11-year-old girl in 2002.

For that offence, he was jailed for three years but was released on a 10-year extended licence.

Rees had been free for three-and-a-half years when he reoffended at the fireworks display in Cardiff earlier this year.

Judge Dafydd Hughes told him: "There is no doubt you are a man who has preyed upon young children on a regular basis".

Rees has previous offences dating back to 1983 when he was aged 16.

HE IS A SERIAL sex offender(not a first timer) why not read him the life imprisonment? For he is finding it difficult to keep his hands off; he can't control himself on the other hand, if he finds leisure in destroying the young child's psychological health and over well being, then what are his chances of contributing in development of the society? If he is set out to crush the youn' ones, the future generation....

Yeah it's scary....we have several of them in our area. They give out notifications when rapists move in the area. Sisters especially,please do not leave the house at night by yourselves and take a key and put it between your fingers so if someone comes behind you, you can attack them.

Often we think are invincible..and things won't happen to us, so we don't take the extra pre-cautionary measures to protect ourselves, thanks bro, for the great reminder. and the pepper spray thing? I havent try/carry it..does anyone carry one?

They don't do that here...for the rapist's safety.

The key thing - the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If a person isn't trained in martial arts/self-defence quite often jabbing someone in the eye or kneeing them won't be a reflex- so they'll be all flustered thinking AHHHhahHahaHahahah key what was i supposed to do, oh crap. Instead of just running away. I think every woman should practice self defence..or maybe join the iranian female army

but ya here in the u.s. virtually every state has registered sex offenders, meaning they have to register and you can look up online where they are located at. the thing is, its very vague. you have 19 year old's listed on there. meaning if a 18 year old has sex with a 16 year old, legally he committed 'statutory rape', and onto the list he goes!

I don't care what ethnicity these ''people'' are, if i ever have kids they're never sleeping out, they're never going to be alone with people and they shall be on a lead.

So , overall, I think it's betterfor the children not to be born to me!

Well, I don't know-it'd be good for women definitely to knoiw how to defend themselves somehow. InshaAllah Allah will protect our sisters and all kids from these perverts.

When I was doing my psych rotation, we had a couple of level 3 sex offenders (I can't even describe what they did...it's too horrible ). There were times when they had to be put on 1:1 observation. The scary part was knowing that once they're discharged, there's almost no monitoring.

So what's the argument against the death penalty for serial sex offenders?

Killing someone is one thing but mentally scarring them like this surely warrants the most severe punishments. Correct me if I'm wrong but bank robbers get worse sentences than sex offenders. Why? To protect banks and send out a strong message?

I'm not saying this is the ultimate solution. There's more to it but surely repeat sex offenders should be removed from society permanently.

I'm not a fan of the death penalty, since judicial systems are as flawed as the humans running them - killing innocents is almost inevitable. However, life in prison for sexual crimes is something I would support.
