Radio 4!
Radio 4 is amazing most of the time. Today i listened to The Archers and an Interview with Ronnie Corbett! Who else shares my admiration, what have you listened to and what did you think of it?
Ever since i replaced the TV with a radio, i've learnt so many new things!

Re: Radio 4!
Radio 4 is a BBC radio station. I'm not a fan of BBC but radio 4 is great because not only does it comedy/political comedy and some other very cool stuff. Right now, there's a Palestinian talking about how he has been handled by Israeli police, been imprisoned for 4 years. How they killed his brother and how that made him feel as a Resistant. There's Qur'an playing in the background
edit: wow, when his brother died an Israeli person came to him and cried, the palestinian said (haven't caught his name yet as i was washing dishes), he had never seen an Israeli person without a gun, let alone cry for him. This led him to set up a telephone network where Israeli and Palestinian people could talk on the phone. Now so many random people call each other up and ask about their families and lives
The organisation is called Hello Salaam, Hello Shalom. The people got so close on the phone, they used to meet at check points
ps. The Archers is the equivalent of drama on radio. I think its set in West England or perhaps north. It's sometimes funny, sometimes intriguing and sometimes just about normal life.

Hellooooo - The Afternoon Play??? And they've had some really good audiobooks broadcast in the evening slot. I think MasterONaniFiqh made a thread about it before Islamica died.
Anyway - I used to listen whenever my university tutor used to go on as a guest to talk about dead French authors. Revision

Re: Radio 4!
yes! Finally, there's someone else out there!
The afternoon and bed time plays are great. They had Khalid Hosseinis new book a few weeks ago and Salman Rushdies, Midnight Children last month. They're amazing. The shipping report is my favourite though

wahey
its the only radio station i listen to, if ever i do
did you listen to The Moral Maze less than a week ago? they were debating the legalisation of drugs, one of the guest speakers was a professor druggie (or druggie prof?) who was arguing that taking drugs is like any pleasurable sport, it was hilarious to listen to the panel splutter and tut, while he was saying 'i don't know why you're all being so poe-faced and sanctimonious' in a dreary british accent. CLASSIC.

Re: Radio 4!
I used to listen to the Thought For The Day or whatever it was called, during Ramadan when I used to wake up to eat suhoor all alone in my little college room.... Isn't the shipping report on around then?

yeps.
I am a fan.
I listen to it when I'm cooking and when I was in the car with my mum.
We both love it.
You learn SO much.
Its Brill.

Re: Radio 4!
hmm, don't think so. Shipping report is at half 12. Thought of the Day is pretty cool. What do you think of BBC World Service at night?
Did you hear about the quasi american green card is being made for people who want to work in the EU? The new blue card
edit, apparently a Quran found to belong to the 13th century has been sold for 1.1 million pounds at an auction in london!
