Yeah... I don't have internet at home at the moment, but out of 8 hours at work, for 6 of them, I'm doing absolutely nothing.
When I have homework/readings, I guess I'll do that, but for now, I'm Facebook-ing and blog-hopping and Islamica-ing.
I'm gonna get some books. Recommend any?
I want Annemarie Schimmel's "Gabriel's Wing: Study into the Religious Ideas of Sir Muhammad Iqbal". Would be a nice compliment to my reading Baal-e-Jibril in Urdu. Also want her "My Soul is a Woman" but damn, that book is hard to find.
I guess I'll have to order from Amazon.

Fiction or non-Fiction?
Fiction - Rebecca by Daphne DeMornier (sp) great suspense novel. If you can find a book of Stephen Kings short stories, those are great too.
non-Fiction - I just ordered some books on the history of science, I'll let you know what I think after I read them.

Non.
I mean, I love fiction too, but not suspense or horror or Stephen King. Fiction, I read a lot of SouthAsian authors (Vikram Seth, Jhumpa Lahiri, Rohinton Mistry, etc) and a whole bunch of other things which just fall under the "General" category. Like right now, I'm reading the first novel that M.G. Vassanji wrote.
Nonfic, I tend to like books about history, philosophy/religion, feminism or politics/political theory. A friend recommended I read Fanon, so I'm just finishing up "Black Skin, White Masks" and moving onto "The Wretched of the Earth".
I'm just trying to update my to-read list. I asked AmroodWala 'cause I figured he might have similar reading interests.
I really should take this to the Currently Reading thread.

Re: Goodbye Islamica
Confessions of an economic hitman by John Perkins
Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser (alternatively, you could watch the DVD, but books are always better)
Pornified: How Pornography Is Damaging Our Lives, Our Relationships, and Our Families by Pamela Paul
The Working Poor By David Shipler
Nickel & Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich
Pity the nation: Lebanon at War by Robert Fisk
The Great War for civilisation: Conquest of the middle east by Robert Fisk
Purification of the heart by Hamza Yusuf
And for fun, a few graphic novels:
Palestine
Safe Area Gorazde
Both by Joe Sacco
Persepolis I & II by Marjane Satrapi

Re: Goodbye Islamica
Awesome. Thanks Bravo!
I've read a couple of those, but I'll try to locate the others.
And I should add this just to entertain Jaysh. He recommended I read it:
Arabs and Israel For Beginners
by Ron David and Susan David

Yes. I would have replied but too much to say. In short, I'm proud of them too.
A started lecturing me about how being good is not about always doing good, but rather about staying away from bad. The good can easily fall in the sight of God and sinners can easily rise up. There was a Lord of the Rings analogy in there somewhere too. It was pretty funny, but at the end I was just like "Awwww." Very nice of them. At the time, I just kind of rolled my eyes and ignored it, but I thought about it later and decided they were right.

Great, because I wouldve driven over and raided your haram party or something. Also, I feel it necessary to add that they were irresponsible to offer in the first place. Stay away from A.

The Power that Preserves
Like Water for Chocolate
Collected works of Pablo Neruda (you can get it from that bookshop opposite the Eaton centre)
The Wretched of the Earth is an awesome book
Exterminate the Brutes
A short history of bombing
As for history why don't you download some of the historical books from Guttenburg ?
