Please make dua for me
Hi everyone. I don't know how else to deal with this, so I'll just put it out there. So you all know that I've been applying for residency positions in plastic and general surgery. Today is the day that we find out if we matched, Thursday we learn where.
I didn't match anywhere.
I've seen my dean, and neither of us can figure out what happened. I didn't expect to be in this position, and they didn't expect me to be either.
I'm still in shock.

There are no categorical plastics spots and only two (yes two) general surgery spots in the entire nation.

What about in other fields or prelim spots? Weren't you having second thoughts about the whole career thing anyway? Maybe there's a spot open in another field that is less demanding. You have to do something next year so even if it wasn't what you planned, maybe it will work out for you iA. Good luck - I hope that you find the option that is best for you. |

i'll make dua for you. i cant say that i understand how you feel because i'm sure that as scary as i imagine this situation to be, living through it must be even worse.
Inshallah everything will work out for you, you're highly qualified for general surgery (over-qualified in fact).
try to spend time with your family if you can

i'm sorry to hear that, bruinrab! i just came onto Islamica to see if you had posted anything about the match and i saw this. 
just remember that Allah (SWT) is the best of planners and His plans are far greater than any plans we make. perhaps there is some wisdom in this turnout that you may not know just yet, but He knows. Perhaps He has something better in store for you in this life or in the Hereafter.
