So sue us.
And it doesn't take place just in relationships. Personally, it happens to me almost everyday in my line of work, and its what I get paid for. It happens when I'm driving long distances on the highway. I find some random dude driving a decent car, I flash my hi-beams from behind and then we're just off, speedstreaming. And then when we get to the destination we're like, ahh screw this, lets do that all over again.

did you just compare a potential life partner..i.e. a human being to a car?

1) No I did not. Please go back and read it again.
2) Plenty of guys on and off Islamica have commented [jokingly I'm sure] about hot cars that they would leave their women for. So don't be surprised.
3) We love cars and hot bikes. I've told you this before, don't be surprised - or jealous - when we're expressing our desire for something that's inorganic yet referred to in the feminine tense.

yes, joking about loving cars so much is understandable. but i doubt any sane guy would seriously think like that though.
i doubt any sane girl reading our current discussion is actually feeling jealous thinking of a guy and his love for his car.
like seriously? most girls have WAY too much self esteem to even think about themselves near or on the same level as a CAR. lol.
anyways youre completely missing the point i raised.
i was trying to say that it's probably not healthy to think of the marriage process as a thrill..like a car race or something. in fact if you think like that youre most likely not ready for marriage. or you definitely havent found the right person, or something
and if you cant help thinking that way, well let me just say...there are some things the world doesnt need to know
what you ended up addressing though, wasnt my raised concern. you went off on some rant about how guys refer to their cars in the feminine sense and something about how girls get jealous or whatever

calm down.
The original comment was "thrill of the chase" which was used to characterize the emotional roller-coaster of feelings that can sometimes accompany a rishta process.
What would you use to describe it? "the boredom of pouring molasses" ... ?

Not really. My comment that I made was based on your observed, repeated behavior from the past.

There were several people who I knew that walked by including Islamicans, family, friends, etc. I was holding one of those ISNA programs in my hand and by the time we were done, that thing was shredded.
And ofcourse, every rishta I've met at a wedding is awkward because its infront of all the guests and a lot of times my friends or family will walk by behind the girl and start smiling or making faces and then I'll start smiling too and the girl's probably wondering why I'm smiling. And then going over to people's places is always fun, but the few times I've done that its usually been pretty benign. But in the back of your mind, however awkward it is...its still a pretty fun experience...I love all the nervousness, anticipation, etc. associated with it...makes for good memories.

haha... it REALLY is good memories! Me and my husband STLL talk abutour rishta meeting day...he claims he never saw me cuz he forgot his glasses and didnt wear contacts... i thought he looked like a teenybopper kid ... and he thought i was a fob...awwwwwwwwwwwwww and we were both all shy and quiettt and nice ...
its fun to tell ur spouse about all ur rishtas and make them jealous or they might just call u a picky snob :S...

the implication was that since the thrill of the chase is so much fun, why not just keep engaging in multiple chases?
all i was saying is that that's not appropriate.

Re: Awkward Rishta Meeting Thread
this past summer i was at ISNA, loitering around the back of one of the main sessions, messing around with my cell phone
this random portly, 30-something guy with a long beard approached me and greeted me
Guy: "Excuse me, sister.... are you waiting for someone?"
Me: "Uh, no."
Guy: -pauses- .....Are you married?
Me: .....
i tried to smile politely, and then ran
