ok, yeah like the others said, stay in public areas and bring someoen with you, if he is really trying to give you dawah he'll encourage having someone come along with you guys, for its prohibited for a man and a female to be alone together. Pay attention to the way he speaks and such. Actually, if he isnt talking about marriage with you then I dont see any point in going out with him, you guys can continue talking the way you guys are now. Also he would refer you to a sister who is knowledgable in islam to inform you about islam. Ya know. A lot of men talk smack, and say this and act like their this one particular way when they're not. I've been there and done that. I just hope if you do go through with this that his intentions are good, I really do mean that.
