Okay, for serious now, a pro of marriage for men which is related to the most popular pro: all the scientific evidence proves that regular ejaculation, especially starting in the 20s, helps to significantly decrease the chances of getting prostate cancer (used to be called "the priest's diease"). That could be why we're encouraged to get married young.
That's for all you men putting off marriage till you're in your 30s.

Consuming turmeric, and riding bicycles (due to vibrations) can also achieve the same benefits. So I think there are more compelling reasons out there

I guess desi bike-riders have it the best then. No wonder wheelworks is 83 and still not married.
infamousbrown: Islamically, probably not, as there are alternatives, yeah? I just said that the Islamic solution is to get married young. But hey, it's between you and Allah.

I made no reference to myself. I fail to see why you would. That's kind of gross.

I didn't either. I meant 'you' in general.
As in whoever uses that justification.
My other response to Bravo was gonna be "Yeah, but turmeric and bikes aren't sex!" Kinda painfully obvious though.

Re: Pros of being married?
Honestly, I was just sharing an interesting fact. It made me say "SubhanAllah" and think about the wisdom of Islam in encouraging us to get married young. Bravo, as a med student, gave some contrasting evidence but it stands: turmeric and bike-riding aren't sex. Which is an activity you get rewarded for within a marriage. SubhanAllah.
EDIT: And I don't see what the problem is if we're not speaking in a vulgar way and I maintain that I didn't. It is possible to speak of sex in a respectful way. Allah speaks of it in the Qur'an and the Prophet spoke of it. He even consulted with a woman who complained about her husband's lack in this regard, when the Companions laughed at her complaint. We're sexual beings and can have sex within marriage. It's a beautiful thing and not something to be ashamed of. We're not Christian, k?

Fair enough. However the next time you throw out a general 'you' as opposed to a specific one, you might want to avoid starting off your response by addressing a particular individual.
Just to avoid confusion.

Re: Pros of being married?
infamousbrown: Okay, sure, but I always write the name of the person who I'm responding to, if I don't quote them. 'Cause I don't always use the multi-quote feature. But even if I had used that, I think you'd still think I was adressing just you.
So yeah... sorry, but I don't see how else I could have avoided that. Maybe if I hadn't used the word "you"? Sorry.

oh, and just to add more drama to my post: sex.
|
haha, I like that last addition
If a woman doesn't need to work and has skillzzz, I actually think it's kind of injustice for her NOT to volunteer (assuming she has time, not too bogged down with kids, etc). I mean if my husband is making enough for us to live comfortably, I have a law degree, but I choose to work in some firm for mucho moolah while there are civil rights organizations just trying to get by, I think it's somewhat unfair. I'd volunteer. I've always loved it
