Of course you can give your opinion about me (though nobody requested it), but

1. it's probably best not to if I'm not even here (Sixpak did bring up my name, but he was just asking you how your insulting me before I left is different from Rambo insulting Saph... since you called Rambo out for what he said saying that he doesn't know her in real life, but did the same thing yourself to me, even though you don't know me in real life either. 'Cause it is maligning me to insinuate that your negative views about me are based on things you know about me in real life. I'm positive that that's blatantly untrue. Like I said, even if we do have some mutual acquaintances (it's possible though I don't know of any), I highly doubt any of them had anything negative to say about me if my name did indeed come up in any of your conversations.

It's okay to admit you're wrong sometimes. You can just say "Yes, I did insult Timbit before she left, despite not knowing anything about her in real life. My views about her have no basis in anything except her posts on Islamica, which I found to be stupid/crappy/dumb/disgusting/besharam/whatever." That makes it clear that you don't like my posts, but don't actually know me in real life. I'm totally okay with you insulting me or my posts or disagreeing with what I say on Islamica (because everybody has access to those posts and can go read them for themselves), but please don't make it seem like we actually know each other or are acquainted with each other or even know of each other outside of Islamica.You don't have to lie just to make yourself look right.

Anyway, peace bro. Like I said, if I see you at ISNA on the Sunday, or any other event, I'll be sure to ask you then who exactly we know in common. It's quite likely that our mutual friends/acquaintances will be at the same event too, no? Perhaps we can also ask them to clarify.

EDIT: As for the original question... I don't think that applies to Muslims. Umm...unless somebody does some really creative ijtihad.

It seems everyone kind of got carried away- which is pretty easy to do sitting behind a computer screen. And its a little problematic, because a lot of the times we dont really mean what we say but also dont think twice about posting because we think: 'hey! its the internet, who cares..'

Anyway, lets all re-assume proper adaab when speaking to each other and just.. forgive everyone for whatever they have said, on the board or off.
In the end we're not responsible for what others say/do to us- but rather how we chose to handle ourselves in such situations. Dont let your feelings manifest themselves into negative responses towards others- even if they are in response to negativity.
Its really difficult to always stand guard when it comes to our tongue (or in this case the fingers ) but its not very hard to at least try. iA khair for all of us.
