Would you marry someone considerably older than you?
as salaamu alaikum,
I dunno if this has been asked before, but i couldnt find a thread on it so wth
This ques is directed towards the Guys, but i guess everyone can answer.
Would you marry someone thats like 10 or more years older than you?
Would your parents let you (if your desi or not)?
Dunno how to add a poll so forgive me.

Re: Would you marry someone considerably older than you?
For my age limit, I'd say anywhere from about 2 years older than me to about 5 years younger than me. And for height, my height or slightly shorter.

I find older women attractive. Seriously. A lot of the women in their 40s are super hot, not only that but they substance to go with their style. So yeah, I would consider marrying an older woman.
snip- let's have some modesty

Re: Would you marry someone considerably older than you?
I would. Age is not a big deal for me, of course I wouldnt be comfortable with someone like 10-20 years older than me. But I'm fine with a 5-7 year age difference.

you know in ten years she'll be wearing dentures right?
I'd probably marry up to 6/7 years older and I probably wouldn't marry anyone younger...

Re: Would you marry someone considerably older than you?
Age holds nothing. Just look at the prophets (Pbuh) example. If she has good deen and is religion, and well, im getting to an age where I really haven't found any one, ie: 28-29. Yes i would consider it definetly.

What about a guy thats younger than you? (well not right now since that would make them like 15 or 10, but you know what i mean )
And why are desi parents so against it? I dunno if non-desi parents are..

Its a stupid cultural thing. Most parents want a wife who is only a few years younger than their son, also they have to be from the same country, same state. I have a variety of friends. Some who are straight up DESI as in very cultural and less Islamic and some who are very Islamic and not that culturally bound and they are desi as well. The Islamic ones, their parents don't care who they get married to, age, color, region. To them it doesn't matter, but the more "liberal ones" their parents are strict and WANT them to only get married to Pakistani or Indians. So pretty much it comes down to how religious your family is.

No, not unless she was smokin' hot and didn't look her age.

That kind of marriage wouldn't last a year. The main reason being that you married her for her looks in the first place and you know the hadith regarding the four reasons why one gets married. Plus since she'd be pretty old, her looks would fade even quicker and so the reason you married her would crumble and thus the divorce.
*Sigh* Young blood and all their sort of rot ...

You made the mistake of presuming I actually care about such a marriage lasting in the first place.
Thanks for trying anyways.
