men carry excess weight better than women do and generally menswear forgives that excess weight far more than women's clothes do.
about the statement of yours that i've bolded, thats a pretty sweeping generalization to make - a number of girls have just posted that they don't want any part of a flabby guy. Also, how can you attribute it to women not being as 'superficial' as men are as opposed to them feeling more secure about their own body image if their men are chubby?

That's because you're not fat. I think the key thing here is... size compatibility.

are you saying that chubby men look better than chubby women?
it sounds to me like we agree on this issue, except for different reasons.

i read an article based on a study or something about that in Psychology Today magazine it was on the differences in gender and potential mates appearence/attractiveness.

cuz the majority of the time, the two issues are not related. i.e. a woman isnt influenced by her husbands body image when it comes to her own. she's not likely to feel any security being fat if her husband is also fat. women always worry about being fat because they worry their man will find them less attractive.. because i think deep down we all know men are visually driven. well, at least that's the kind of thought process we can be prone to developing living in a society like this

Have you ever seen a fat girl/skinny guy couple?
I'm glad it works out for those people who are into each other even if they're not exactly balancing any scales physically. But i think that it's alright if you aren't into people that are a lot heavier than you.

again, is this your opininon, or something you got out of that one article you read?
I think its fair to infer that a woman who has a few extra pounds on her would feel insecure and less attractive if her husband was in primo shape. I can also see her feeling added pressure to work out and get into better shape so that she can keep up.
If he were on the chubbier side that pressure vanishes immediately.
This is hardly scientific, but on two occasions, married friends of mine who were on the heavy side, decided to get fit, and did. To their surprise, their wives while seeming supportive would subtly sabotage them by encouraging them to eat junk food, candy etc, together, making the snacking into an 'us' thing.
The odd thing about this is that they do not know each other and they live continents apart.
I remember reading an article in men's health that suggested the same thing as well about weight loss making spouses feel insecure.

i think that's really ridiculous...
we have a difference of opinion. let's agree to disagree.
but i advise you to google evolutionary perspectives in sex differences and mate selection

I think fat birds like skinny guys. You often see a couple, and the bird is fat, and the bloke is a rake.

I'd take the fat hijabi.
I'm a guy who likes fat women, though.
