Although I'm not a Muslim, I have the deepest respect for your religion and many others. I am actually a deeply religious person, but I've not yet encountered a church or other such religious organisation I enjoy being a part of. But I do understand and respect your being part of such a group.

I've joined this forum, because I have one question in particular I'd like to discuss at the moment. Other questions do arise from time to time, so I thought it would be a good idea to enable this form of access to your knowledge and opinions. I hope that's an acceptable motivation for joining this community? I'm not here to cause trouble, though I understand some of the issues of interest and importance to me might ruffle some feathers; I just want some information and opinions.

Firstly, the thing I'm particularly interested in at the moment, is King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud's attitude towards cannabis; I know it's extremely negative, but I'd like to know what the theological basis for this attitude is and why it's so extreme. I'd also like to know how it fits in with the Sufi branch of Islam and learn a bit more about how the various branches of Islam relate to each other; in this case, with particular reference to the Saudi Royal Family. Where would be the best place to post this question - in the 'Culture and Society' or 'Religion and Spirituality' section?
