Default what do you do with old magazines and clutter?

hi, i love my magazines. they're all so awesome. except sometimes they amount to kind of a lot and take up lots of space. like if you've been collecting 15 different magazines for a year or two.

though sometimes i cut out the REALLLY nice things i like and stick em on my scrapboard. or whatever it's called. you know the thing? like they have in school? you take pins and stick stuff on it. yeah, i can't believe i can't remember exactly what they're called. whatever.

anyway. i'm superclingy to things i like. i don't want to throw them away. what should i do? put them in a huge cardboard box and let them collect dust? go through all of them and find more nice clippings i like and make a scrapbook? i really wanna make a scrapbook. hmmm.

what do you do with old clutter?

i'm afraid i might need therapy letting go. this is sooooo hard. WHY GOD. life is so cruel to me.

mags: dont read them
books: I give them away to friends after I read them (I cant e-read). Except for Islamic books, theyre MINE for life!
clothing: Every Spring I ship off a ton of clothes I dont wear or not planning on wearing to Goodwill.

I cant decide how to store my purses. I dont want to get rid of them and I have way too many. last year my mom put them in huge garbage bags and threatened to send them off to Goodwill if I didnt find a proper way to store them. I almost cried and stashed them at the far end of my closet.... out of her sight

sally: I think you should make a project of it for the summer. Make a scrapbook of the clippings you like and then recycle the remaining.

I used to collect magazines and hold onto them for years aswell. You don't realise it, but it's a hoarding mentality. Dude, you need to turf the magazines OUT!

Be honest, I bet you hardly read the old ones anymore. You've just gotten into the habit of collecting them. You know, you could donate them to places that need magazines in their waiting rooms, like doctor's surgeries, or hospitals. They'd be going to a good cause, so it wouldn't feel like you wasted them.

I agree with Jamroll..you probably don;t read them, your just hoarding them. You could eiether recycle them or donate them.

When you're done with a magazine, why don't you take it to the gym so that others can read it? If you want to make a scrapbook you can, but before you go through the effort, think about how much time you're really going to spend looking at it!

For me, I find that taking care of the clutter as it happens helps (ie, don't let things pile up!)

I've got 6 years of car magazines filling every shelf in my bookcase. I can't bear to throw any of them out.

Heck, I have a hard time throwing anything out, including trash.

I don't read magazines but my brothers have a huge collection of Digital Photo and Custom PC magazines.

When I've seen the same magazines be knocked about for more than 6months and nobody cares to take care of them, I do. They go straight into the recycle bin.

They've never noticed, so obviously, they've never needed them.

[It makes more space for my ever-growing collection of cookbooks , anyone touch those and it's ]

Sally, recycle them. I promise you won't even know they're missing and you'll love the space they leave behind.

because its the only weekly periodical that i get, which means it generates the most clutter out of all of the magazines and other periodicals i am subscribed to. I guess other weekly ones are as bad.

When i got the NYT at home that was definitely the worst because it was 1000 pages long and came every day
