So yeah, I spoke to the hubster about ma and pop furniture places. He has one near him and I'm in the mist of looking for some around my area-- thanks Bruinrab for the headstart.

This weekend I hope to hit up the Salvation Army and price some furniture pieces-- tables, chairs, dressers, nightstands etc. Two flea markets have opened back up, so I'll try to hit those up too.

I tried to write up a quick list of foods that I would need to purchase. It's not too bad. I hope to hit up the Dollar Store for the paper good items and I'll check out Aldis.

Maybe I exaggerated the broke part a bit in my original post? I won't be dirt broke almost out on the streets but it'll be really tight for awhile due to several factors that aren't really worth mentioning. Plus I have a super independent personality, hate failing, and so I can't bare the thought of having to ask my parents for help. I get really upset when my mother mentions it. I feel that they have worked for the lives they have, they have three kids younger than I am, they have their own bills and financial stress, they don't need mine, eh?

Don't you usually have to discuss controversial posts before editing them into oblivion? And doesn't someone have to report it first?

Anyway, I Danny Seo. I've been reading his SimplyGreen Parties book. There are a number of ideas I'm going to use for my fall reception and even a few household ones.

This is also a really awesome book. I found new ways to use different things.


I started looking in the craft section of my job. I was skimming through the Big Ass Book of Crafts [uh oh Bruinrab, another massive post edit is about to go down ]. It has 150 different crafts, with directions and pictures of each one. Many of the things made were made with common household items or items that are easily available at dollar store/garage sales/salvation army/etc. Granted, some of it was but some of it was also really cute.

reporting is not mandatory. reporting is just helpful since we dont read every single word of every thread

as for discussion, we do have those about actual gray/blurry issues but in order to moderate a bit more effectively we recently had a discussion about what is and isn't appropriate/what should and shouldn't be edited on the spot and i'm pretty sure the post that was edited qualified as one that required editing.

Why? Because Shadha was using an anatomically correct term in reference to a serious illness that merits discussion? I'm sorry, but denial as Hussain advocates doesn't help - it leads directly to deaths. Squashing discussion is tantamount to denial.


Shadha: HGTV has a show called Design on a Dime. I'm sure they have a corresponding website or books for ideas. If you have any handy people in your family, you could have them make some furniture for you. MDF takes stain and paint well, and some reals woods can be had fairly cheaply.

For the record; it was reported/discussed. We as moderators may not always agree with each other absolutely on what consitutes "indecent/inappropriate" language, but we expect that the decisions made are respected and taken with grace.
