I'd give some thought to keeping the washer/dryer if I were you. It really will make things easier, especially when you guys are living together and you get busy with school/work. It's going to be a pain to lug all of your stuff to your parents. If you have stairs, it will be even more annoying. Good luck.

shadha - I like the apartment! kinda reminds me of our first apartment (though your kitchen's much bigger). the built in bookshelves are nice.

and like everyone else is advising, it'd be much better to keep the washer and dryer, even if they are in the kitchen. we didn't have one and our apt. complex's laundromat was disgusting, so we ended up doing it at my in laws every weekend. it was such a pain in the ass, hauling it up and down the stairs (it sucks even worse in the winter) and you have to go EVERY weekend, whether you like it or not. it interferes with other plans. I definitely recommend keeping the washer/dryer.

Well, I am really against keeping the washer and dryer. I can't get over the fact that it's such an eyesore in my kitchen. I don't do my laundry every week-- I have so many clothes, it's more like every 2-3 weeks I do laundry.

I can't do it guys, I just can't.

Shadha, why don't you live with it for a bit and then decide? It's easier to get rid of the set than it is to procure new ones. But don't decide until you and your new husband are living together for a bit because that will alter the laundry situation!

dude, you should totally learn how to make your own bread. like pita style. you know, flour, yeast, warm water.. knead. rise. roll. once you get the hang of it, its easy. and you can make alot and then if you want, freeze them too. cost efficient.

it took me a while to get the hang of it...

you dont gotta make pita bread either. you could roll the bread out once its risen and then put some meat or rice and beans and cheese and then seal it and stick in the oven for 15 min, and you got a really good dish. i've gotten crazy with that. even desserts.

for example. red bell peppers = 5 for a dollar.

cucumbers = 7 for a dollar

Suck it up and keep the appliances in your kitchen; you'll need them.

Our washing machine is in the kitchen, right between the fridge and the sink; the dryer is ACTUALLY OUTSIDE. WHAT FREAKING STONER OF A DESIGNER PUT THAT ABOMINATION INTO EXISTENCE.

But you gotta do what you gotta do, and laundry is one of those things you gotta do.

sugar: yeah but its just not your clothes....its HIS clothes too that youll be washing...

I'm not doing his laundry.

Also, there are multiple laundry mats within walking distance of the apartment.

SmartAssTimbit: I thought you were poor

And I thought you were leaving Islamica.

I really do get what you guys are saying but I can't deal with it in my kitchen. I really can't. I know I'm shooting myself in the foot but I'll wrap it up and keep on walking.

You're going to make him walk his laundry out to be done because you don't like the aesthetics of a washer/dryer in the kitchen? You must really hate it beyond belief!
