The first case is also a case of statutory rape, since it's illegal to be macking on the under 16 crowd in most states. She's been having sex for a year? Means she became active at 13? The guy should go to jail. One of my mom's friends is taking care of a 15 year old, and she intentionally got pregnant with a 17 year old boy so he would marry her and they could "be together forever." The girl is a ward of the state, and they are going to take the baby away from her. My mom's friend is trying to get a foster care license so she can raise the baby.
My husband doesn't want to raise daughters in this country. He's really worried about them doing things like this.

Yea, he refuses to disclose any information about her...so we have no idea who she is and we're looking into what legal recourses we have at our disposal.
Yea I also meet alot of girls who actually want to get pregnant at 13/14 either so they have someone to love or so that their boyfriends will stay with them.

Ugh. They need more sex ed.
You gotta get tested if you're sexually active. And you have to get any partners tested before you have sex with them.

Its funny, sex ed automatically concedes that they will have sex, and just try to get them to protect themselves, instead of starting at the root and just stopping them all together. That way they can at least get some stopped at the beginning and not have such a big problem farther down the line.

Re: 1 in 4 teen girls has sexually transmitted disease
The mentality you expressed just now is the exact same one your policy makers have and that's the reason so many of these kids have STDs in the first place.
You haven't learned yet that they will have sex? That's just the culture we live in. Sure, you may not personally agree with it, but if you're going to be making policy, you need to be realistic. You can't overhaul a culture overnight and I don't think any of the policymakers are actually trying anyway. In any case, I doubt we're going to go back to the 50s idea of morality or adopt an Islamic one, so yeah... just adjust. It's better than having a nation full of diseased people.

It's been pretty well proven that abstinence only sex ed doesn't work. When I took sex ed in H.S. the teacher was really blunt with us. She showed us really graphic images of people with STD's, and even showed a video of a live birth. and guess what, there were STILL 3 pregnant girls at our graduation. It's like smoking, people know it's bad, they know they shouldn't do it, but they do it anyway. Well, if they are going to do it anyway, at least they should know how not spread diseases and so forth.

It's possible, but even then what 15 or 16 year old is going to have their 'partner' wait and go get a test done for STD's before having sex, I could be naive about that, but I doubt they are going to be waiting...
Basically if they don't care about the morality, or abstaining from premarital sex, they are already weighing the possibility of getting some STD and yet they still do it. It's not working and something needs to change.
As far as sex ed nowadays, its more about how to protect yourself, then abstaining, I've talked to some of the younger kids and thats what they say...
I don't know, it all starts in the home and seems to end up at school if one or both aren't caring or doing the right thing to help stop this 'epidemic' its going to keep going down hill.
Unfortunately I don't see this stopping anytime soon, and it seems that only religion and parents will have any chance at stopping this craziness.

Got5 what the hell is your problem with desi girls, you always seem to be ragging on them? Did you get burnt by one and decide to pick on them all? Get over yourself, I'm sick of all your posts always generalizing and stereotyping one minority group of people.

Okay, so if you're a parent and you think your kids shouldn't be having sex , you can teach them abstinence at home. They should be learning about protection in public schools though.
I agree that religious education is a solution, but you have to be realistic. That's not possible in America.
They're not weighing the possibility of getting STIs. They're unaware and/or think they're immune. And they should be waiting. STI tests don't take that long. I know lots of people who adhere to this protection strategy. And they need to always use condoms. That's the message that needs to be put out there.

Watch for it.
