Default Babies & Family Pets

AsSalamu' Alaykum,

I was curious if anyone has raised a baby with a family pet in the home? Does any of our beautiful pregnant Islamicans have cats in the home?

My idea was to adopt a kitten then get pregnant but my mom just recently brought up the issue of the possibility of the cat being jealous and resentful of the baby. Ahhhhhh.

So I was just wondering if anyone has personal experience with it and how they handled the situation.

three of our family babies were born with a cat in the house and none of them had any problems, alhamdulilah. the cat did, though.

my advice would be to steer clear of a cat if you're planning on getting pregnant..

it's prohibited for pregnant women to clean cat litter boxes..there's a high risk of certain diseases being transmitted to the fetus that way..google it

so unless you can find somebody to take care of your cat for you during that time, don't do it just yet

I'm pro not having pets. Because it's just that one extra complication, and taking care of them can sometimes be as demanding as having a baby.

That's true. It's why I let the cat at my little sisters hamster and then set it on my dads budgies. Now I just gotta deal with the cat.

asslaamu alaykum

mishmish (the cat) has come in from outside bleeding and hurt the kids will be devestated tomorrow. Another reason you shouldn't get a pet.

Wash your hands after cleaning the cat litter box and wear gloves if you feel you need to....
19 of my friends who had babies also had kitty cats in the house. No problems.
