Re: Your Kids, Their Education, and Your Career/Education
Restless Soul: however, not all the kids in that environment are going to be angels. undoubtedly, even the good kids will pick up bad habits/values from these less well-parented kids.
I think the danger not only comes from other kids but from the workers as well.

Awesome.
I'm really excited about it because before I nearly cried every time I had to think about further postponing my education. This will InshaAllah give me the ability to have my child in a safe secure educational atmosphere only feet away from me.

I was considering doing that also. but iA, it looks like my family will be able to help me out, alhamdulillah.
but a good thing about the university daycare center is that if you're on financial aid, you get a discount for your child's tuition also.

Yeah! I read that, yesssssss. Otherwise it'd be 800+ a month.

just make sure to get on the waiting list ahead of time. at my uni, they accomodate faculty first and then the students. best of luck when that time comes!
and yea, daycares are ridiculously expensive. and they pay the teachers crap. hah.

I don't know anyone personally that has done it, but I worked with the children that attended a daycare facility on campus. They literally had a school on the university campus. Students could walk by and see the little nursery school kids playing (they were behind a fence and their playground area was really, really, really far away). The university ripped down the building and made an entirely new state of the art (better than the college of ed building) facility for those nursery school students.
Anyway, after seeing the kind of education, care, and attention those kids receive, I would definitely put my child in a daycare/nursery like the one that was on my campus. I don't know if I would just choose any university though, I would seek out a school that had an education program. In my opinion, it makes a difference.

Re: Your Kids, Their Education, and Your Career/Education
My mom is a teacher...so when i decided to have kids and go back to work...I'll just send my kid to the same school my mom is working hahaha. But I also plan to be in Higher education admistator ...so leaving my child at the unversity's daycare where i could keep an eye on them is an option for me as well.

Very true, I read about the waiting list. I hope that once I get pregnant, I'll get on the list.
Don't even get me started on the dismal salary teachers receive.
Dramarani, I read about the program being offered- Alhumdulilah it's much like what you described- but before I even go through with this plan I want to personally tour the school, view the curriculum, know their policies, see their teaching & discipline methods applied...I have control issues so I am definitely going to investigate the school further.

Re: Your Kids, Their Education, and Your Career/Education
I don't plan on working at all after the baby comes, for a year or two. After that, I'd ideally like to work from home - alh that can be accommodated in my chosen field. If I can't do that then I'd consider combining daycare with part-time work, unless my in-laws come to the UK. If they did, they would live with us and I'd be able to leave baby with grandma. So i have a couple of options, it's just a matter of seeing how things work out. Once the child/ren are in school fulltime, I would think about going back to work full-time, but until then, I want to be able to have the time to be around for them.
