Ok, we have a potential kitty! Her name is Mitze and she's 4 years old. I spent about a half an hour with her in the cat play room at the local humane society. I couldn't tell if she was shy or just happy to be out of her cage, because she spent a few minutes sniffing around the room. But, eventually she warmed up and we had some quality snuggle time.
I've put a hold on her and inshaAllah will bring the husband back this afternoon. inshaAllah inshaAllah inshaAllah he'll like her. Here's her pic from the humane society webpage. She's much prettier in person

He thinks she meows too much, so please make dua that she can snuggle her way into his heart.  This is her yes, I am so cuddly, so stop taking pictures/cooking/typing/whatever you are dong and cuddle me dang it look.

 . man, vocal kitties are the best, i love meowing  (my kitty isn't very vocal, she's mostly quiet unless we're in the car...then she sits on top of the back seat and meows like crazy  )

Update on kitty - she's doing well alhamdulilah. inshaAllah we'll get to keep her
 She didn't wake us up last night, which was a big fear. The bedroom is off limits, so i have one cat hair free place in the apartment, so that my asthma isn't aggrivated. When we went in during the day and closed the door, she would be at the door meowing after 5 minutes. But alhamdulilah, she seems to know when it's time to sleep, and she hunkers down on the couch or the floor (not the expensive fluffy bed we bought her, dur) and doesn't bother us. I got up a little early this morning for some snuggle time with her, fed her, loved her up a bit and then we went to work. inshaAllah she'll do fine alone and won't make a big mess.

her name used to be Mitze, but I'm not terribly fond of it and she doesn't answer to it, so we're going to change it inshaAllah.
Unfortunately, we're at an impass for names. I'm looking for something either Islamic or Arabic, and unusual. No Mishmish, even though I think it's such an adorable name, I want my kitty to be unique. I like Rabia (for Rabia al Adawwiya) or Shams (sun and for Rumi's friend). The husband likes Noura (light) and Habiba. He doesn't like the names I picked, and I like Noura, but I have a friend named Noura, so I really don't want to name my cat that. Anyone have any ideas?

Speaking of cats, this cat is awesome. He/she comes out at the 4:33 mark. How many cats walk up to any house or building and just do this?

  And these things for me:     Of course, can't get them now, since we just shelled out $$$ for kitty and are taking her to the vet this weekend, which will be more $$$, but in a few months...

OMG Rhama she is sooooooo cute, I wish we could have a cat but my son and I are alergic and we both have asthma, but we do have a bichon named muffy
