Check this book out from the library:

Amazon.com: How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk: Books: Adele Faber,Elaine Mazlish

Seriously. It tells you exactly how to deal with this kind of thing in a way that will really calm them down and help them stop being so pissed off all the time. This is not for the teen to read, btw, it's for the parent (or whoever is trying to get through to the teen).

Thanks for all the suggestions.

sixpak - you know boxing is not a bad idea. Although this kid is more interested in martial arts, so maybe I;ll see if there are any classes around here.

shadha - yes that is EXACTLY how it is. At the moment we just, as you say, back off, but I really think something else needs to be done. How to suggest anger management therapy without WWIII breaking out?

Discipline can only be instilled from a young age.

Insha'Allah Khair Don't worry, sometimes it's just a phase. And some kids just learn to live with the fact that they have to go through 12+ years of school..just because everybody else does.
Assalamu Alaikum,

She said that the condition has existed since birth.

Has the child ever undergone a psychiatric eval?
