Well, its to get information and debate it and come up with a general familiarity with the subject matter to debunk myths concerning the American meta-narrative.

if you want some good stuff on this subject, like mpt (maryland public television) broadcast awesome documentaries on this all the time, like last night. I'm pretty sure they have them on youtube, but go to the mpt website and search for documentaries, and you should be able to find them readily easily.

Well, I'm trying to explore the paradox in promoting democracy and yet violating the basic rights of people in order to illustrate that expansionism was an essential component of the American state and the ideas of the founding fathers and subsequent American leaders was geared towards this objective in order to establish a pattern and practice of hegemonic expansionism. Thus, any scrutiny of American foreign policy should take its historical expansionism into consideration.
