i flew on gulf air many times and passed through the gulf, most of the employees i saw working at the airports were phillipino, while the security guards were either african or south asian. but then again i landed in the middle of the night, so that could have been simply due to the shift.

I don't know which Gulf country you landed in, but in Dubai airport (I never used any other in the country), the security personnel are UAE nationals. The people working at the ticket counters are from various nationalities. The last time I was there, the man at the desk was Omani.

Back to the thief thing .. selfish or not, whatever the reason is, they just give Muslims a bad name, which is why employers are more interested in their security than doing their Islamic duty of supporting fellow Muslims.

anyways arabesque i was thinking about something you wrote earlier. it was your story about the house maid and house servants. i dunno for me personally, i just dont like the idea of having house servants. for its more of a invasion of privacy. We dont have any here, but in India any middle class home can afford to have servants and i never felt comfortable whenever i saw them around, because it was like strangers walking around your house, going through your personal items and things like that. i cut my own lawn, do my own laundry and drive myself wherever i have to go.
