McCain's "Spiritual Guide" Wants America to Destroy Islam
YouTube - McCain's "Spiritual Guide" Wants America to Destroy Islam
You may have heard of Rev. John Hagee, the McCain supporter who said God created Hurricane Katrina to punish New Orleans for its homosexual "sins." Well now meet Rev. Rod Parsley, the televangelist megachurch pastor from Ohio who hates Islam. According to David Corn of Mother Jones, Parsley has called on Christians to wage war against Islam, which he considers to be a "false religion." In the past, Parsley has also railed against the separation of church and state, homosexuals, and abortion rights, comparing Planned Parenthood to Nazis.
John McCain actively sought and received Parsley's endorsement in the presidential race. McCain has called Parsley "a spiritual guide," and he hasn't said whether he shares Parsley's vicious anti-Islam views. That's because the mainstream media refuses to ask. And so, we've taken matters into our own hands, joining Mother Jones to present the truth about McCain's pastor.
Since the media won't question McCain about his deeply bigoted pastor, it's up to you to call attention to this issue. Make McCain's pastor problem a major story by forwarding this video to your family, friends, and colleagues.
We can't let McCain get away with aligning himself with a religious leader who's called for an all-out war on Islam, someone who draws no distinctions between Muslims and violent Islamic extremists. Now is the crucial time to act.
Yours,
Robert Greenwald

that's fine, as long as he doesn't say anything bad about America or Jews, he's a great guy!

Re: McCain's "Spiritual Guide" Wants America to Destroy Islam
McCain has pretty much said he'd rather die than see America have a Muslim president so views liek this from hi sSpiritual leader aren't suprising.
Zam has a point, if he had said this about Jews then there would be fecal matter hitting somekind of airflow inducer.

Thats why Muslims should vote for Obama.
He will sympathize with Muslims. Hes showing a hard line stance because he wants to get elected

eh, maybe. VP's are pretty useless though, except for their tie braking senate vote. That's why they have to much time to become environmentalists.

Sorry, my hippie brain forgot about that one!
I'm still wondering if that was really an accident. Who knows, maybe the guy let slip that his granddaughter was gunna marry a Muslim boy or something, and Cheney just couldn't handle it.

Why do you think Obama will sympathize with Muslims?
Anyways, I thought Bush was McCain's Spiritual Guide?

Re: McCain's "Spiritual Guide" Wants America to Destroy Islam
I kind of think this pastor business gets blown out of proportion. Think about it, we all (I hope) go to Mosques every week. Do we really know the personal oppinions of the imam? If we did know, would we stop going to the Mosque and distance ourselves from his views? If the imam was found to have an extremist attitude, how would we feel if the media jumped on it and labeled all the people who attend that Mosque as extremists?
I'm not saying I like McCain, but to lambast him based on the personal oppinions of his pastor seems a little unfair to me. McCain being Republican, he HAS to court the evangelical vote, but it doesn't necessarily mean that he himself personally agrees with the evangelical position on everything.

Obama got no slack when it came to his ties with reverend wright. Why the double standard with McCain?

As Bravo mentioned, the main issue here is double-standards. McCain has said that so-and-so is his spiritual guide. And McCain himself has not stepped forward to either associate or dissociate himself from Parsley's remarks. The silence - coupled with the double standards - is very troubling, to say the least.
What the OP is advocating is that someone has to step forward and ask the question, McCain, do you agree or disagree with the views of Parsley, yes or no?
Politicians are public figures and as such they are, and must be, subject to public scrutiny.
Not without reason is it said that sunlight is the best disinfectant.

It's a fair question, to ask if you agree or disagree with the views.
I thought the press was very unfair with Obama. If you're making the case based on double standards, then by all rights and means they should be equally unfair with McCain. I'm just talking about me personally, though, not what I expect the press to do. By and large I think the press has been harder on Obama than either McCain or Clinton.
