I mean doesn't it make you sick looking at UFC fighting... they basically fight in their underpants and grapple each other into submission. I wouldn't even be surprised if it was fake and all planned ahead of time.

Dude, fighting is cool, and UFC is not fake.

1. All it takes is one well aimed bullet....
2. "Getting to work" on improving one's character would be an infinitely more productive endeavour.

Something tells me he's a much better shot than you as well, not to mention the fact that he has access to much more sophisticated arsenal. In addition rumor has it there won't be any more artillery around during the time of the Mahdi so all the fighting will be up close.

You dissappoint me bro, all the Sahabah had fighting experience both unarmed and armed and that includes Muhammad SAW (check the hadith about his wrestling match with Rukanah).

Oh I don't doubt it, but most street fights are over in 10 seconds, none of that bone breaking is required.

Three people? And who are these three people?
Anyway, I agree with Trent on this one. There are rules and regulations in the cage unlike on the street.

You ever held one of those Schmitars(sp)? They are freaking heavy especially when you start swinging it about..he'd have to be quick to take a fella down and end him before it connects with his face..
Lets pray on the Qiyyamaat we all have the forsight to know how to fight...

Obviously, but it's kind of difficult to find many well-established academies that will teach you effective swordplay techniques. And I dunno how many of how you guys have access to the NRA either?
Hand to Hand combat is the best base to start out from and it's by far the most convenient for just about everyone. Chances are everyone on this forum lives within 5 miles of an MMA, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, Jiu Jitsu gym/academy

Sick? Absolutely not. I'm in awe watching a UFC/MMA fight. Have you seen the National Geographic Fight Science of the MMA? A-MAZING. Check out this video:
YouTube - Fight Science MMA - Bas Rutten Kicks a Crash Test Dummy
How can you not be impressed with the amount of absolute force his one kick carries?
I'm trying to locate the Fight Science video where they slow down a elbow hit and you can see the mans muscles RIPPLE down his side and back. They literally ripple.
I can not wait to start training.

I love Bas Rutten, not only is he a deadly fighter but has a friendly, funny personality as well. He is a celebrity among the MMA community and a legend in Holland Kickboxing circle. His self-defense video had me cracking up for hours. Here are some hilarious highlights guaranteed to make you smile, especially the last 30 seconds:
YouTube - Bas Rutten Street Self Defense
Note: As funny as Bas is he is NO JOKE the man is one of the Dutch kickboxing legends, a distinguished former UFC Heavyweight Champion and is currently one of the most respected trainers in MMA. He is also a well-documented street fighter, a few years ago he was arrested after roughing up 4 or 5 bouncers who harassed him at a night club in Sweden, it was actually reported by a local newspaper.

Effective techniques? Dude you just hoof it at a dudes face thats it...
Seriously though I agree with you for most people learning effective techniques is the best way to go. Some people don't need it. I could take you out with a comb but thats because i've learned how. Everyone should go to a real fighting class and learn effective street techniques.
Although I enjoyed Vale Tudo..and Kickboxing..they are awesome.

Bas Rutten is a powerful guy..he can also handle himself in the street..see JR's post..
What are you training in? Be prepered to get hit in the face VERY hard, thats usually the first obstacle most peopel can't overcome..

Chances are, next year when life's **** starts calming down, I'll start training in either MMA or kick boxing. Lately, I've been leaning towards MMA.
It's going to be VERY hard for me to be hit in my face. Not to sound vain or anything but I love my face and I love my teeth, which is why I originally wanted to get into kickboxing, it has the facial gear.

That it be. Ironic that as soon as she started to care about him he joined a fighting league that was, well, way out of his.

In Kickboxing they use head guards and mouthguards but the headguards guard your head not your face. As for the mouth guard, it doesn't really gurd your teeth that much but it helps..not trying to scre you but just trying to give you a relaistic representation of Full Contact sports.
