If someone were to make similar statements about a Muslim leader and their votership, opposite but equal in magnitude, their rep bar would look like roberto's in short order. But when such statments are made broadly about Christians/Americans, everyone's nodding in agreement.

Thanks, I've had pretty close contact with the States and Americans. I realize there are plenty of ignorant hicks... you didn't target your statement at them...

People have repeatedly called his Christianity into question and accused him of being a Muslim. Hillary's campaign has underhandedly tried to highlight his Muslim ancestry, as though it's an insult or negative thing repeatedly. Of course, he's encouraged such behavior by not immediately denouncing it as Islamophobia and instead going on the defensive.

The statement isn't so much about Christians and their tendency to attack Muslim states, but about Obama's distancing himself from his Muslim heritage. So there's nothing really offensive about it.

When I lived in the UK I had phone calls,emails and IM's with americans all over the states on a daily basis. You don't get a real picture of how it works until you live and work here.

I don't even think you can make that statement solidly. You'll never be able to draw a clear line between those who won't vote for him because he's black, or 'muslim' and those who are voting on other issues. It's a statistic that's impossible to know.

And if I had only known Americans through internet contacts or phone calls, I wouldn't have made a statement that I had 'lots of contact with Americans and the States.'

you're making the assumption that the majority of Americans arent going to vote for him, and not only that but that his race or heritage or name will be the reason for it. Why dont you wait until after the election happens before you comment on its outcome? Right now, Obama is ahead of all the other candidates in opinion polling.

YOu might not be able to get a clear statistical conclusion but the general view is his skin colour and apparent Muslimness are reasons why certain demographics aren't convinced by him, hence the statements by myself and others.

I go by the man on the street view not the CNN view.
