It didn't make the same point at all... it spliced in segments of a documentary on crazy christian bible camps, to images of Baghdad being bombed. I guess you could say it took those Christian quotes out of context (although I'd say those OT verses were totally in context). However the violence they chose to show didn't seem dependent on those texts. The 'Fitna' film linked the violence to the actual tenets somewhat more convincingly.

Although I'd say neither video did a particularly good job. The makers of Fitna could have shown videos of the actual suicide attackers quoting religious material in their "martyrdom" videos, along with well known terrorist leaders who cite pages of the stuff.

The maker of Schism on the other hand could have presented more direct links of the Christian Right to the Neo-conservative movement, and try and dig up something more solid from there. Didn't Bush say God talks to him or something? It'd probably be a lot trickier, but more convincing material exists.

"We" don't have control over the actions of other individuals who are associated with us because of our religion. The most a layman could do is condemn such extremists and try to distance himself. Given the diverse nature -most of the time- we don't even get along or look down upon on each other but the outsiders lump us together because of the shared text. It's frustrating.

I believe you misinterpreted my comments. I was actually pointing out at how you by posting the video for all members here to see are doing a disservice to the ummah. Also, a layman like you and I can do one better: instead of condemning such videos, condemn those who have committed the acts in the video, as they are really the ones who have given the opportunity for such a video to be made. You can also choose to completely ignore the video, hence not adding fuel to an already burning fire. Sometimes, to ignore is the best response. Just my 2 cents

I am not a fan of ignoring accounts that concern us all. Beside, this was not some Commentary magazine article, instead it was all over the news and had received millions of hits on youtube within 24 hrs of its posting. Putting a blanket over our heads is not going to dissolve the matters. The point of this thread was not about adding fuel but to create awareness and equip ourselves with a verbal response in case we're confronted with it in the real world. This is a forum and posting such materials invite discussion - the very reason we're having this exchange is result of the original post. Or we could reduce the forum to meat market.
