There is already fuss about it. The story is being covered in the press and this is something that is not going to go away. When this dies down, there will another film and so on... ignoring the issue is not the best option.

Umm... sorry yaar--ya3ni I didn't mean specifically you... I should have clarified that; I meant to address a general audience, esp since from your previous post you didn't seem to be going in that direction... my apologies.

Re: Dutch "Fitna" released on the internet
i havent watched it yet, but i saw the beginning
this guy is so stupid, he uses 8:60 while 8:61 immediately follows with this:
8:61 But if they incline to peace, incline thou to it as well, and place thy trust in God: verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing!
son of a gun plays it right into our hands man, we're so lucky that he's an idiot

Well, he's either a useful idiot for the anti-Islamic propaganda campaign, recycling discredited arguments, or he's deliberately being deceptive.

Re: Dutch "Fitna" released on the internet
One part I have a problem with their translation that happens at about 3 mins on the youtube video. - it talks about disbelievers' flesh becoming crispy... like a turkey's. A TURKEY's? - wasn't that a North American bird?
Anyway, if all this video did was show bombs going off and passages from the Quran it'd be one thing. But I don't think you can say that this video is unjustly claiming a connection where none exists, because what it also shows are religious authorities making that connection by citing violent passages, indoctrinating children with them etc.

Me neither. It's much better to spend your time doing something that could actually improve your deen or your secular knowledge, rather than watch something which will only anger you. So, I'm going to watch this documentary on Elephants, and then later I'm going to watch a cooking show. The cooking show in particular kills two birds with one stone. First, I increase my secular knowledge, and then since I'm learning how to cook something, I will increase my deen by making myself a better wife too.

Re: Dutch "Fitna" released on the internet
That Wilder guy is a complete idiot. I watched an interview of his and some journalist from FOX just blows away his ridiculously stupid arguments. anyone with an iota of common sense can shut him up.
To me this all seems to be a part of his political campaign. Hes just craving for popularity.

I dont know if hiding under the covers, hoping this will go away is the best attitude. If this was some project by an amateur on youtube/blog, I would agree. But, the video is being circulated and referenced in the mainstream press. If you news search on google, it returns 900+ hits of newspaper articles covering the story- many of which are mainstream.

Anti-Film Taken Offline Following Threats
LiveLeak.com said it removed the film Fitna from its servers after serious threats to its employees.
By Thomas Claburn
InformationWeek
March 28, 2008 04:00 PM
Fitna, an anti-Islamic film made by Dutch politician Geert Wilders that equates Islam with violence, debuted on Thursday at Web site LiveLeak.com, only to be taken down a day later following threats to LiveLeak's staff.
LiveLeak on Friday afternoon issued a statement explaining its decision: "Following threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill-informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly lead to the harm of some of our staff, LiveLeak.com has been left with no other choice but to remove Fitna from our servers.
"This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else. We would like to thank the thousands of people, from all backgrounds and religions, who gave us their support. They realized LiveLeak.com is a vehicle for many opinions and not just for the support of one.

Re: Dutch "Fitna" released on the internet
I think the solution to this propaganda is pretty obvious: kill off all the terrorists in our midsts.
If there are deviants among us who misinterpret our religion, then why do we tolerate them?

Re: Dutch "Fitna" released on the internet
this is interesting :
Quote:
Cartoonist to sue over Islam film
Kurt Westergaard in 2006 -BBC
BBC NEWS | Europe | Cartoonist to sue over Islam film
Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, who depicted the Prophet Muhammad with a bomb in his turban, says he will sue the maker of an anti-Islam film.
Mr Westergaard says his cartoon, which sparked riots two years ago, was used in the film by Dutch politician Geert Wilders without permission.
Mr Westergaard told Danish TV that his cartoon was a protest against terrorism, not Islam as a whole.
The Danish journalists' union is suing on his behalf for copyright violation.
"Wilders has the right to make his movie but he has not permission to use my drawing," Mr Westergaard told Denmark's TV2.
"This has nothing to do with freedom of speech," he said. "I will not accept my cartoon being taken out of its original context and used in a completely different one."
Mr Westergaard has lived in hiding in Denmark since his cartoon led to unrest in the Middle East and beyond following its publication in 2005.

Who is the reciter[/s] in the film? [Is it Sheik Sudais? ]
Can the reciter sue as well for using his recitation? they probably didn't get his permission either
