Default Jamiat’s appeal to madrasas

I just want to state something here. During the Independence movement against British Colonial rule, the Madrasas were the key proponents of secular ideas and never even advocated violence to fight British occupation and british colonial rule.

Jamiat’s appeal to madrasas

Tuesday, 14 August 2007

Hyderabad, August 14:
Jamiat Ulama of India's state of Andhra Pradesh has appealed to the managements of Deeni Madrasas in the State to highlight the sacrifices made by the Muslim community during the freedom struggle, during India's Independence Day celebrations.

In a statement here on Monday, Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed, president of the organisation, urged the managements of madrasas to celebrate the event as usual with enthusiasm and invite local MLAs, MPs, political leaders and officials.

He said the role of Muslims in the Independence struggle and their fight against the country’s partition should be brought to the notice of new generation.
