I don't see how a discussion about the PPP turned into this.

But GotFiveonit: Maybe they want a religious guy for their daughter because she's religious? Siblings can be really different from one another. Or maybe because they have an alcoholic son, they don't want an alcoholic son-in-law?

I think at some point, when the kids are grown, then it's not the parents' fault anymore for how they are. Because they're adults who've made their own decisions and there's really not much you can do to discipline grown children.

We know a few families who have one or two "bad apples" and it doesn't effect the reputation of the parents or prevent the other siblings from getting married. It's just when the whole family is corrupt that people start talking.

look i dont care what other people do. but dont sit there and scrutinize some guy, when your own son is a frickin drunk alchoholic. you know desi witches make such a big deal and condem desi guys as wife beaters. guess who are the biggest wife beaters in america? they are all drunk alcoholics thats who, and those who are prone to substance abuse. and they start off early on in thier youth and it stays with them well into thier middle age. look at george w. bush.

not only that, how can the mother tell the potentional groom's dad, years earlier to take his kid to masjid, raise him religious, when they failed as parent to do the same with thier own son? thats just sheer desi hypocracy for you.

and the girl in question is only moderatly religious. who knows it could all be an act.

Moderate is a good place to be. Maybe she wanted somebody more religious to help her grow in her deen though.

And I'm sure they took him to the masjid and raised him religious. It's not their fault if those lessons didn't stick with it. They fulfilled their Islamic obligations. But there comes a point when you can't control your kids anymore. And you can't beat Islam into them in the first place.
