Salahedeen- i could use the world you gave me for salafis, but the general population of islamica recognises the word salafi more, i think.

Do you realize that this is the exact mentality we must protect ourselves against? People just want desperately want to make something halal, because of the hurt the Palestinians have gone through, and the anger they feel and the vengeance they want to enact. But dear sister, we canNOT change the laws of Islam just because of our whims and desires. I've always known that some scholars erred on this matter for the VERY REASON that they are too emotionally tied to the situation, so they find some way to make it halal. If you really really really really want to make something halal, then you can easily do that.
I think this is a criminal mentality. I remember once when I got caught lying to my parents, I justified my action by telling my parents that I had no other option because I was scared of getting in trouble. You know, my parents told me something so wise: they said, nobody ever lies EXCEPT to get out of trouble. The thief only steals when he needs to do that.
Nothing can make these things halal. Neither can the desperate situation of the Palestinians make something halal which is haram. No matter how much we want it, or desire it.
Some scholars have even said that suicide bombing is only allowed in Palestine (!!!)...how can something be halal in one place and haram in another place ? Is this not just desperation of a people to make something halal because they really really really want it to be?
It's like a man killing his ex because she cheated on him...sure, that girl 'may deserve it', but murder is not right, no matter what the situation.
As for the position of the Salafi scholars on this matter, then I think this is a matter of pride and honor, namely that the Salafis were forbidding suicide bombing EVEN BEFORE it became popular amongst the Muslims or Palestinians. This shows their unwavering attention to the Shari'ah; they do not follow their whims and desires, nor do they make the haram into the halal as Ahl al-Bidah do.
The Salafis follow the Sunnah, not emotional whims and desires. And in the end, this creates a consistent policy and has a great benefit. Muslims need a zero tolerance policy towards terrorism and that's exactly the attitude the Salafis have towards it. The way the Salafis are fighting terrorism -- the Saudi rehabilitation programs and the like -- are commendable. It's a source of pride for me.
