The Hyderabad police have registered a case against Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen, who was attacked by the All India Mujlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLAs and activists on August 9, based on a complaint from AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi.

Re: Criminal Case booked against anti-islam writer, Taslima Nasreen
Barking dogs never bite!
Saturday, 11 August 2007
MIM tried to gain political mileage out of Taslima’s episode
Hyderabad, August 11 (Agencies): It is said that 30 minutes are enough either to make or break anybody’s career, reputation or life. In the wake of the incident of attack on Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreeen at press club on Thursday, it is indeed unbelievable that MIM MLAs got more than thirty minutes and instead of using this time to its maximum damage, they simply wasted it in chanting useless slogans and hurling flower bouquets knowing fully that they would get badly needed political mileage.
They could not lift even a chair lying near by to attack her with strong impact though only a few persons were present there. It is nothing but a political gimmick played on her.
The suicide bombers in Iraq are the best example to eliminate not only their targets but also themselves. And they are doing so with an eye blinker. Imagine, what could they have done if they had 30 minutes. Religious sentiments are totally different from the political ambitions.
If you are religiously hurt, no might on this earth be able to prevent you to eliminate a person or organization that is involved in blasphemy of prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It clearly indicates that whatever MIM people have on their tongue, it is missing from their hearts as the proverb goes that barking dogs never bite.
Now, according to Times of India and The Hindu, they are trying to add one more ‘feather’ to their cap by showing an intention to organize a campaign against Taslima to oust her from the country.
When they could not utilize those thirty minutes to oust her from this world itself, what is the use to organize a campaign now? It is just like an embarrassed cat is scratching the pole. Religion is second to none to Mr. Asad.

It's also good to see there are other good, peaceful Muslims who would like to see her dead instead of brought back.

Re: Criminal Case booked against anti-islam writer, Taslima Nasreen
Finally, cops book case against Akbar Owaisi
Sunday, 12 August 2007
Hyderabad, August 12: Coming under immense flak for going soft on MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi who issued an open threat to ‘behead’ Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasrin, the Hyderabad city police at length snapped out of their sleepwalking spell and registered a case against the junior Owaisi on Saturday night.
After obtaining permission from the Magistrate, the Punjagutta police registered the case under section 506 IPC (criminal intimidation) against Akbaruddin who had made the threat just outside the Pubjagutta police station on Thursday, the day the writer was attacked at the Press Club.
Meanwhile, the police have obtained and are studying the video footage of the drama outside the police station. However, the MLA has not been arrested so far.
For its part, the Centre for Inquiry which had organised the book release function, has sent its own video footage of the proceedings to Taslima Nasrin in Kolkata to show that no derogatory references were made either to Islam or to Prophet Mohammed. The footage apparently belies Akbaruddin's claim that her briefing to the press was “inflammatory” and “created hatred among the peace-loving people of Hyderabad.”
Earlier, tremendous pressure from the powers-that-be and fear of a backlash from the Muslim community had led the Punjagutta police to register a case under Section 153 (A) IPC (making inflammatory speeches and creating hatred among communities) against Taslima for a “provocative speech” at the programme organised at the Press Club two days ago.
However, stung by criticism, it is likely that the police may not pursue this case further.

Re: Criminal Case booked against anti-islam writer, Taslima Nasreen
Hyderabad police seek court permission to register cases
Sunday, 12 August 2007
Hyderabad, August 12: A day after registering a case against Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasrin for “inciting enmity between different groups,” the Hyderabad city police on Saturday set in motion the process to register cases against the MIM floor leader in the Assembly, Akbaruddin Owaisi and Majlis Bachao Tehreek leader Majidullah Khan for holding out threats to the writer. Faced with severe criticism for being lenient towards the assailants who attacked Ms. Nasrin in the Hyderabad Press Club on Thursday, the
police are now seeking court permission to book cases against Mr. Owaisi and Mr. Khan based on their statements shown in news bulletins of various news channels.
“As it is a non-cognisable offence, a petition along with clippings of the news channels was filed in the court seeking permission to initiate action against Mr. Owaisi and Mr. Khan under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC,” a senior police officer said. He was not willing to be identified. The police officer said the court could grant such a permission on Monday. Following a complaint filed by Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi, the Punjagutta police have registered a case under Section 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on the ground of religion) of the IPC against Ms. Nasrin as it was a cognisable offence. “Under this, we take complainant’s version into consideration and book a case,” the official explained, adding that the case was still under investigation.
Meanwhile, the Centre for Inquiry which organised the book release function to which Ms. Nasrin was the chief guest, decided to lodge a complaint about the attack on Ms. Nasrin by a mob led by three MIM legislators — Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri, Maozam Khan and Muqtada Asfar Khan. “We are discussing with legal experts. A complaint will be filed on Monday,” the Centre Chairman N. Innaiah told The Hindu on Saturday.Mr. Innaiah too suffered injuries in his face while trying to protect Ms. Nasrin. Six persons were on the dais when MIM legislators barged into the conference hall and attacked them. Mr. Innaiah termed as false the allegations of Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi that Ms. Nasrin had hurt the sentiments of Muslims with her speech in the Press Club on Thursday. “Video footage is available with us. She has not made any such remarks during the function. We believe that they are ignorant of these things. They raised earlier developments and behaved in vengeance,” he said. The Punjagutta police also recorded Innaiah’s statements pertaining to Thursday’s incident.
