BABRI MASJID

demolition of babri masjid and findings of the Liberhan commission
13-12-2005

After the demolition of Babri Masjid, the Liberhan Commission was formed to look into the real facts of what really happened before the demolition and which were the forces responsible. Since more than 13 years, the Liberhan Commission has been probing the demolition of Babri Masjid. More than 18 months have passed since the UPA Government has come into power. The LIberhan Commission's term is expiring on 30th of December. So far, this present Government has not yet filled an affidavit. The Liberhan Commission has very candidly asked this Government as to who is responsible for the demolition of Babri Masjid, what is the UPA Government's contention, where it is the BJP or Shiv Sena or RSS which is responsible. Despite that, the present Government has not yet filed the affidavit.

Also, after coming into power, the present UPA Government has clearly stated that they are not agreeing with the affidavit filed by the previous NDA Government. My request, through you, to the Government is that it is high time the Government wakes up to its responsibility and files an affidavit before the Liberhan Commission before the expiry of its term on 30th December.

It is a matter of urgent national importance. The country needs to know the facts as to what really happened. When a Commission has been formed to go into the demolition of Babri Masjid, I hope that the Government will file affidavit before 30th December so that the facts can really come out. The Government should candidly say who is responsible and what really happened to it.
